I came across a couple of things I think are demonstrative of the game of politics as played by progressives and leftist media.
My purpose in writing this article arose from the Drudge headline “Obama: I’m itching for fight.” I clicked the link and was about to launch into writing when I noticed the sight I was taken to as the primary source. It is the USA Today, and specifically their “The Oval: Tracking the Obama Presidency,” and I burst out laughing. It would seem the sycophancy is so unabashed and transparent; the effort so overt and seemingly prideful, that media, or at least the USA Today in this instance, have totally abandoned any sense of journalistic integrity.
Why don’t they just go ahead and hire a dozen hotties, the Obama Girl comes to mind for one, and dress them up in Hope & Change cheer leader outfits, pompoms and all, and just do this! Man up, admit they are so hopeful for Obama and his transitional presidency, cough, cough, and let’s just go ahead on and get to the entertainment portion of the program, for to me the entire Obama Administration is for entertainment purposes, right? I feel as if I’m standing in Spencer’s Gifts and reading the label on the plastic vibrating back massager that reads: “For Relief of Muscle Tension.” PULEEEEZE! Grow the Hell up! What is this, fourth grade? Are Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman gonna pop round the corner at any moment?
But onto my original point….how does all the talk of “Republican’s are holding us hostage” dovetail with progressive screams for bipartisanship? How does all this comport with Obama’s oath “I will be happy to see the Republicans test whether or not I’m itching for a fight on a whole range of issues?” How does that work, exactly? So it’s Republican stubbornness at the root of all political evil and we have the Big Cheese proudly announcing he’s ready for a fight. Where did all that bipartisanship go? I thought the height of political erudition was compromise? I thought them there noble progressives were all for getting along and reaching middle ground?
Instead it’s undeniable proof of my oft made contention that progressives are all mouth and no, and I mean ZERO, ass. Their version of bipartisanship is when Republican’s cave to their desires. Where did political negotiation disappear to? I thought negotiation was the height of political discourse. That’s what they’ve told us, again and again. I wretch when I hear progressives go on their “We’re doing the business of the American people” rant.
In the USA Today “The Oval” article Obama proudly boasts “We are going to go right back at Republicans in showing why the things that they wanted in this compromise don’t make sense,” referring to I guess any of the provisions the Republican’s wanted for their agreement. See what I mean? Even successful compromise results in Obama threatening to “go right back at Republicans….”
I guess I’m left to ask Obama and progressives “What part of the election a mere one month ago is not clear to you?” It wasn’t, as the left swore before the election, “general anti-incumbent fever,” at all, but it was anti-Democrat fever and that sentiment was well expressed and overtly obvious in clarity. It would seem progressives did not learn a single thing from the election 5 weeks ago.
The voices of voter’s were clear, but allow me to reiterate for progressives who I guess are just overburdened with holiday cheer: Democrats were served notice that they’d better stop the insane spending. They were informed the nation wants a repeal of Obamacare. We want no more stimulus, QE, or any other Keynesian efforts. We want capitalism to continue as it has, imperfect though it is. We demand government get their tentacles out of business and stop gumming up the works. We want no more class warfare. It’s not a crime to be successful and in fact is the preferred state and not one worthy of denigration, accusation or undermining. We don’t want bigger government, more government programs and more nanny state efforts. We want our government to comport itself as it is Constitutionally charged to do and NOTHING MORE!
I mean what more need be demonstrated than to acknowledge as my state’s Attorney General said today? “More than half the states are suing the Federal Government to end the anit-Constitutional imposition of Obamacare.” (paraphrased) Isn’t that crystal clear that the nation rejects out of hand progressive governing? The nation is so against it not only do we not want any more of it but we want the progressive efforts shoved down our throats to be repealed.
What part of this do the self-proclaimed smartest people in the room NOT get?
