I have recently been on a kick to find a new facial cleansing system. I was previously using something more gentle, but found that it wasn’t keeping my skin clear as I would have liked.
When shopping down the skin care aisle at my local Target, I decided on the brand Noxema.
I had purchased a few items, including one I have previously reviewed, their “Deep Cleansing Cream”. I decided to also buy their astringent pads to help cleanse my skin and dry up any acne that was forming.
Noxema’s “Triple Clean Anti-Blemish Pads” were around $4. Each container comes with 90 astringent pads that have the medication already on them.
The packaging is anything from feminine and might be something women overlook because it kind of looks like a man’s product.
I definitely think this is a good thing for teenage boys or men who want a facial system but do not want something too frilly.
The jar is medium sized and will fit nicely in a medicine cabinet or drawer.
The container is a deep blue and is pretty shiny in appearance. The brand name is on the front along with the description of the product.
Each astringent pad has salicylic acid which is supposed to help with acne problems and blemishes.
I do not think that I would classify my skin as having acne, but I do get hormonal and occasional blemishes that I don’t like. I would also say that my skin is oily, especially in the t-zone area. The t-zone if often classified as the middle of the forehead, nose and chin area.
I usually only use one of these pads a day, but occasionally I will use 2, one at night and one in the morning.
I will use this product in the morning when I am in a rush and don’t wash my face with the soap I bought along with this product.
I think it does do a good job at removing dirt and oil that can clog your pores. I have seen a noticeable change in the length my blemishes are around. If I do get a blemish and apply this product, it quickly dries up and fades away within 2 days or so, which is pretty fast.
I do notice some dryness though, especially on my forehead and nose, so I make sure to use a good moisturizer at night. I even will use a light cream or gel in the morning after application to kind of fight the dryness before it starts.
As long as I continue to use creams or gels, I don’t see a problem.
When you use the pad, you basically swipe it across your problem areas. It dries quickly, but the smell is strong. It is a very medicinal scent that many might not like.
It is a strong product and might cause irritation if used too much.
There are days in which I skip this step, but I do like using it because you can literally see the dirt and oil on the white pad itself after application.
Here are a few tips I have learned: If you think these pads are drying out, you might want to store the jar upside down. The pads themselves are not very soft either, so taking one and folding it in half sort of makes a thicker cushion and is easier on the skin.
I might buy this again, but might also try something else. I think this is a decent product though and something I might come back to in the future.
