Nicki Minaj looked like a Ghetto Bozo The Clown at the VH1 Salutes The Troops Show with her stark white asymmetrical clown-fro, the crazy make-up and wild colors. Her outfit looked like it was designed by Picasso on LSD.
I have nothing against Nicki Minaj other than the way she looks. I am happy for any woman who does her own thing and makes paper legitimately, whether that woman is an intellectual or an entertainer, but Nicki Minaj looks ridiculous. It’s not creative or cute or artistic or artsy. She just looks disturbingly colorful and like her elevator is not going all the way to the top floor or her neurons are misfiring. I think that her music is mediocre so far, but she has great potential. It’s okay, but nothing to get all excited over. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either.
Nicki Minaj seems to have a beautiful face under all that make-up, hair and false eyelashes, but is her body natural? I’m not sure. I understand the joys of ghetto booty, but hers looks a bit pre-manufactured as if she purchased it at Booties-R-Us Plastic Surgery Center (joke). She kind of looks like a cartoon caricature and that rump looks like two pigs fighting under a blanket. I know some guys like all of that, but she’s got so much ass that you can’t see her booty!
And what’s with her style of dress? She usually looks like a psycho clown barfed up some confetti and cotton candy at a parade under a rainbow. I’m not even sure what to call it. Clownesque? She gives me Coulrophobia, an abnormal fear of clowns or people that hide their facial features or cause them to be indistinguishable.
I’m all for uniqueness, if it’s natural and it’s who you really are and not hype or because that’s what some publicist or stylist told you that you should look like. You can’t force uniqueness and you damn sure can’t force style. Either you have it or you don’t.
I’m sure that Nicki has great style somewhere beneath all that foolish fashion chaos. I am not against outlandish style and fashion from the sublime to the ridiculous. I love Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert and anyone else who portends to be fashion forward or a style icon. I don’t even mind the tacky (Kiss), the garish (Marilyn Manson) and the downright nutty (Lady Gaga), but Nicki’s child-like foolishness is just too twisted for color television and it’s an affront to my fashion sense! Everyone else on the VH1’s Salute to the Troops looked cute and quirky, but Nicki, not so much.
Come on Nicki, you’re beautiful. Let it shine and shows us what you’re really got. Surely, this can’t be it!
