The New York Jets defense received a lot of press from their stint on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series. They have been solid this season but not as dominant as expected. As a defense the New York Jets rank just outside the top five.
They are giving up just under 90 yards per game against the run and 210 yards against the pass. This team can be smoked by the long ball on the right play. The Pittsburgh Steelers offense has the edge over the New York Jets defense.

James Harrison has not slowed down on his vicious hitting style over the middle despite the numerous fines and Troy Polamalu is still the game breaker on this team. Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets offense had their moments this season but now their schedule gets tough and he faces the toughest defense he will face this season. Santonio Holmes is still Sanchez favorite receiver but he has to get him the ball consistently for Holmes to make a big impact.
The New York Jets running game will be challenged in this game as they face the toughest run defense the NFL has seen in many years. Shonn Greene and LaDanian Tomlinson have struggled to be consistent over the last five games and this will test their mettle late in the season.
