Starting off with, the City of Palo Alto celebrates the Annual Senior New Year’s Eve Day Bash at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center’s Cultural Arts Hall on 3921 Fabian Way from 11 am to 2 pm on Friday, December 31. Enjoy an afternoon of dancing, buffet lunch, and a champagne toast. San Francisco Pier 14 will host New Year’s Eve Fireworks ( http://www.sf-port.org/index.aspx?page=1496&recordid=57&returnURL=/index.aspx) while San Francisco City Hall will host NYE Ball 2011 featuring music and drinks in the Rotunda, North Light Court and South Light Court . Next, if you plan to attend one of the festivities in San Francisco or surrounding cities, BART, VTA, Caltrain and Muni are offering extended services on New Year’s Eve. BART will split the Richmond and Pittsburg-Baypoint lines to stop at Montgomery (skipping Embarcadero) and Dublin-Pleasanton/Fremont lines will be stopping at Embarcadero (skipping Montgomery).
VTA bus and light rail service will be free from 7 pm to 3:59 am. Caltrain will offer 4 extra trains departing San Francisco at 12:45 am, 1:15 am, 1:45 am, and 2:15 am, making all the local stops at San Jose . Muni and cable cars will be free from 8 pm until 6 am New Year’s Day.
Remember to drive safely on New Year’s Eve with AAA’s “Tipsy Tow” service from 6pm to 6am on New Year’s Day. No membership is required to request a free one-way ride for drivers or passengers, and for free one-way tows for the driver’s car.
