Raleigh, North Carolina is a city that continues to grow rapidly. New restaurants and bars keep springing up all over downtown Raleigh.
To keep Raleigh area residents up to date on the new restaurant and bar openings in Raleigh, I have been writing an update every six months on this topic. You can read my July 2010 edition related to new Raleigh restaurants and bars HERE. The following is a list of new restaurants and bars that have opened in Raleigh since July 2010.

New restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina – The Cherry Bomb Grill
Located in the building that used to house Joe’s Place, this Raleigh restaurant opened in September 2010. It has a retro theme with “pinup” waitresses. Benelux Café opened in Raleigh’s City Market in September 2010. This café serves a wide variety of tea and coffee drinks, and has a limited menu of pastries, breakfast wraps, salads and sandwiches. Benelux Café is located at 309 Blake Street in Raleigh.
New restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina – David’s Dumpling & Noodle Bar
Chef David Mao, formerly of the Duck and Dumpling restaurant, opened a yummy new restaurant near NC State’s campus in August 2010. It features a Pan-Asian menu with Chinese, Vietnamese, and Malaysian influences. As you might suspect from the name, there is a particular focus on dumpling and noodle dishes. David’s Dumpling & Noodle Bar is located at 1900 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh.
“New” restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina – Frazier’s Wine Bar
Technically, Frazier’s doesn’t fall into the “new” restaurant category; it is in its own special “re-opened” category. This well-respected Raleigh restaurant closed its doors in February 2010 after over a decade of doing business on Raleigh’s Hillsborough Street. Frazier’s new wine bar opened in August 2010 and offers a menu with some smaller dishes like a gourmet cheese plate, borscht, and collard greens with bacon in addition to a few larger entrees like roasted chicken and grilled pork tenderloin. Frazier’s Wine Bar is located at 2418 Hillsborough St. in Raleigh.
“New” bar in Raleigh, North Carolina – King’s Barcade
King’s Barcade, a beloved Raleigh institution, re-opened in August 2010 at its new location, 14 W. Martin Street in Raleigh. Another bar, Neptune’s Parlor, opened in the basement of this location in July 2010.
New restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina – Chow
Although I usually focus exclusively on new downtown Raleigh restaurants, I can’t help but give a quick shout out at the end of this article to Chow, which is located in North Raleigh. I love all of the other Urban Food Group restaurants (Vivace, Coquette, Porter’s Tavern, and Frazier’s Wine Bar), so I am sure that Chow is a winner even though I haven’t been there yet. Chow serves traditional American fare such as pizza, burgers, and tacos and has several vegetarian options. Chow is located at 8311 Creedmoor Rd. in Raleigh.
