Could there be such a thing as the “perfect” nail polish? In these troubled economic times, both men and women alike are having to make tough choices in an effort to make their dollars go just a bit further. For the ladies, perhaps it’s putting off that haircut and coloring for a bit longer than usual. Going to the nail salon might have also been a casualty as well. After all what lady wants to get their nails done, only to have them ruined two days later. Simply put, it has become more cost effective to simply do them at home and save a few bucks. Well what if I told you that could all be changing?
That’s right ladies, if the folks at CND have their way, you will be heading back to the nail salon in record numbers, seeking out their revolutionary new product. What is this new nail polish that will stop the presses? It is called Shellac and no it’s not the stuff you redid the coffee table in the front room with. Shellac is an innovative hybrid nail color that the company guarantees will last you at least 14 days! If your like my wife, the first thing said was “no way” followed by “what is called and where can I get it”.
You did hear right. Fourteen days guaranteed by its maker, CND. It sounds too good to be true though, doesn’t it. Well, if you head on down to a participating salon you will find that all the claims stand up. When you walk in though, be prepared to pay a bit more than you usually would for your traditional manicure. The price for the job with shellac will cost you anywhere from 40 to 45 dollars, but the process is much more evolved. However when you think of the fact that your going to have nails that will be perfect for at least two weeks, maybe more, you know that extra 20 bucks will be worth it.
So you have to be wondering “how can this be and what is the process?” The process is rather simple with less time needed to do it, and your fretting about your nails afterwards will be a thing of the past. The stylist will paint on the Shellac much like they do with a regular nail polish. However with the Shellac the process is first put on the specially formulated base coat, then follow that up with two layers of the color you choose. When those two layers are on, finish with a topcoat. The new aspect comes with the special UV lamp that is involved with the process. After each coat is applied to your nails, that hand is placed under the UV lamp for a set period of time, which usually is long enough to put a coat on the other hand while you wait.
The process is the very same when doing a pedicure as well, with the same time frames applying. The amazing thing is that even with the added step of the UV lamp and some extra coats, your nails will be done and dry in the same amount, if not less, time than a traditional manicure/pedicure does. After its done, well just try anything you use to worry about doing and ruining your nails and see what happens. Washes the dishes, reach inside your purse, type a term paper, clean the toilet. Nothing will make these nails smudge or chip.
At this point you have to be thinking this is remarkable. However say you reach the end of your two or three weeks and are ready for something different. Don’t go to the bathroom and get your nail polisher remover because it will not take this stuff off. You will need to return to the salon for ten minutes under CND’s remover wraps, which are basically stickers that go on the nail. No more worrying about your skin getting irritated by the chemicals usually used to take the polish off. You no longer have to deal with sticky leftover polish or those grungy cotton balls. The stuff simply comes off in ten minutes. Wow, two or three weeks on, ten minutes to take off. It sounds like a God send for you ladies!
Some final thoughts on this wonderful new product. For those of you that suffer from various allergies, you will be happy to know that this product is hypoallergenic and contains no formaldehyde, toluene, or DBP. One less thing to have to worry about there. Finally, at this point, Shellac is available for you in twelve shades, with more to come by the end of the year.
Well it would seem that a little miracle has found its ways into the hearts and on the nails of women the world over. Find yourself a salon that uses Shellac and you will be set. At least for a couple of weeks that is!
