Nature’s Path Organic PomegranPlus Granola with Cherries: Food Review

by tree pony

Nature’s Path Organic PomegranPlus Granola with Cherries is probably one of my favorite granola cereals. Not only does it taste great, but it is organic, comes in a small but filled to the brim box, and the box is covered with reading material (this includes the inside!).

Starting with PomgranPlus Granola’s taste, I’d have to say it is delicious. Instead of being strictly rolled oats, there are some rice crispies, which is brown rice flour. This makes the granola less rock-like crunchy and adds more of a cereal quality (you know, the classic a-little-soggier-by-the-end-of-the-bowl texture). But what’s great about the “cereal” quality is that it does not become completely mushy by the end, thanks to the granola. I will bash a little at the cherries, however. The cherries are practically nonexistent, and the few cherries that actually make it onto my spoon are tiny, dense, and, well, blah. They don’t taste bad, but they definitely don’t add anything great to the granola.

When you first look at a box of Nature’s Path Organic PomegranPlus Granola, you might think “Eh, tiny”. However, this is for a reason. In efforts to reduce plant waste, Nature’s Path Organic shrunk their boxes by 10%, yet kept the same amount of product in each box. They call it “EnviroBox”. Great idea in my opinion! Not only is it good for the environment, but there is the lack of disappointment in opening a box only to find it is half-filled.

Nutrition wise, it is about what I expected in a granola product. It’s made with whole grains and other organic ingredients, but the calorie amount per serving is high at 250. There are 9g fat (0g trans fat), 60mg sodium, 38g carbs, 4g fiber, 5g protein, and 13g sugar. I wish there were more vitamins in PomegranPlus Granola, as there is only 10% DV of Iron and 2% DV of Calcium.

Now I haven’t shredded my box to bits yet, but I can see that there is more reading material on the inside of the box, including some coupons for organic milk and yogurt. Nature’s Path Organic really packed a lot in and on their boxes.

Nature’s Path PomegranPlus Granola with Cherries is found in my local stores’ health food departments. They are usually on sale for $3.00 in my area. Good price, I think. After looking at Nature’s Path Organic’s very informative website (found here ), I’ve decided there are several other products that I’d like to test out next. So all in all, I highly recommend this granola to anyone looking for an tasty snack or breakfast.
