Gout is considered a type of arthritis that affects the joints. Gout causes severe pain, tenderness at joints, and redness. Gout is caused by uric acid building up in the joints but the exact cause is still unknown as some people suffer from gout without higher levels of uric acid in the body.
Gout can also be found in people who have diabetes, leukemia, hemolytic anemia’s, kidney disease and obesity.
Gout can be prevented by consuming six or more glasses of water per day. This will help the body excrete the excessive uric acid. Eat a proper diet and exercise to maintain a healthy weight. Avoid foods that carry purines, purine foods include organ meat, shellfish, creamy sauces, dried peas , alcohol, etc.
Vitamin C – is known to help the body reduce levels of uric acid in the blood. Discuss vitamin C doses with your medical care provider as two much vitamin C can lead to higher levels of uric acid.
Cherries – Cherries contain high levels of potassium and vitamin C. These will aid in excreting the abundance of uric acid in your body.
Ground Ginger- used as a foot soak can help cause you to sweat which helps excrete the excessive uric acid. Use 1/3 cup of ground ginger to soak your affected foot for at least 30 minutes.
Bananas – Bananas are consumed for three to four days. To help relieve gout eat up to nine bananas a day and nothing else.
Apples – apples contain malic acid which is through to neutralize uric acid. Consuming an apple with each meal daily will help neutralize uric acid reducing the symptoms of gout.
Coffee – according to the Mayo Clinic website there have been studies done that show an associate with drinking coffee. These studies show coffee drinkers have lower uric acid levels.
Organic Apple Cider & Honey – Two teaspoons each of the apple cider and honey will reduce pain associated with gout. This can be repeated up to two times daily.
Gout Diet – Following proper gout diets will lessen the uric acid in the body. It’s important to know what types of foods you can safely eat. Dairy products such as yogurt and milk have shown lower levels of uric acid. Lower your intake of meat and seafood as studies have shown high gout levels in people who consume these items.
