February 17, 2011 – 71 days to go. A final decision has been made on the honeymoon destination of Will and Kate. Their first stop will be a tour of Canada for nine days from June 30 to July 8 at the invitation of the Canadian government. Niagara Falls officials are disappointed that the trip will not include the Niagara Falls region despite their efforts. Instead, the newlyweds will visit Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and the national capital region of Ottawa. Part of the honeymoon will be spent at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, according to a later report.
February 19, 2011 – The invitations are in the mail. The dress that first caught William’s eye is being auctioned off for $15,000. A new book entitled William and Kate: A Royal Love Story by British reporter James Clench was available in November. Sarah Ferguson is not invited to the wedding, but her daughters are invited.
March 4 Issue of Entertainment Magazine – The appetite for all things Kate and Will are insatiable – especially in America. The British press have been calling Kate Middleton “Waity Katie” for years, ever since the couple started dating eight years ago. Since the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in London on April 29th, American viewers wil
have to tune in at 6 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. The level of coverage will be equal to that of the Olympics and the World Cup. NBC has scored one major coup – a behind-the-scenes documentary called Inside the Royal Wedding which will air two days before the wedding on April 27th. The first book about the couple – William and Kate: A Royal Love Story became available ten days after the engagement in November. Andrew Morton, well-known writer about the Royals is working on his book “William and Catherine” which will go to print in May and will feature 32 pages of wedding coverage. People Magazine is planning a commemorative issue. Both Lifetime and Hallmark channels are rushing TV movies into production. We will see Lifetime’s William and Kate in April before the wedding and Hallmark’s version after the wedding. There will be a fascination for Wills and Kate for years and years to come. They are the gift that keeps on giving.
February 25, 2011 – Kate has left her job at her family’s business, Party Pieces, to prepare for her wedding, and to concentrate full-time on preparing to become a member of the Royal Family, according to a spokesman. It is unclear whether or not Kate will return to work after the wedding, fueling rumors that the couple will plan to start a family right away.
February 25, 2011 – Prince William and Kate made a rare public appearance yesterday to dedicate a lifeboat. Prince William made a short statement for all those who used the boat to be blessed while Kate poured champagne over the lifeboat. The champagne bottle was not broken over the boat because the boat was rubber and they feared the glass would damage the boat.
