Miley Cyrus bong video controversy continues to spread. But although the Miley Cyrus bong video backlash has gotten everyone talking, the center of the controversy has been relatively quiet. While the former Disney star has been defended and criticized in all corners, she still has other things to do than address it. Currently she is filming a new movie in New Orleans, and is said to be completely focused on it. But how unfazed is Cyrus about the bong backlash – and if she isn’t, will she stay that way much longer?
According to TMZ, the young actress/singer has no worries or regrets about what happened. The site claims that friends told them she “doesn’t care” and is “getting on with her life” by shooting So Undercover in New Orleans.
Yet other areas of the scandal suggest she isn’t as unfazed. There were rumors that representatives were trying to get the video removed from college campuses. However, since the clips have spread throughout the Web, getting it offline is virtually impossible.
Those reports indicate that she is more concerned than she lets on – or at least those who represent her are. But her fans are still sticking by her, and have turned their backlash toward Anna Oliver for allegedly filming the clip.
Yet a former child star believes the bong video was leaked by the subject herself. Melissa Gilbert told AOL News that she thought Cyrus “wanted to get caught” and wanted to get filmed while smoking. TMZ’s sources also claim that she knew it would leak eventually, and said that she was “just young and having fun.”
Gilbert also questioned whether she was really smoking salvia, as has been widely reported. She figures that it was marijuana, which is a more common substance to put in a bong. Of course, Gilbert is experienced with detecting drugs, having once been an addict, and now serving as a spokeswoman for Drugfree.org.
If the Miley Cyrus bong video controversy is being shrugged off, it might be a good thing in some respects, since she isn’t letting it get her down. Yet more and more people are convinced that her lifestyle will get her in more trouble, and she should take this more seriously before things get worse.
The greatest sign on how this affects her will probably come later on, however. If there aren’t any more scandals like this for a while, the message may have gotten across. But if another bong-like controversy comes about for Cyrus, then just shrugging things off might not be the best strategy any more.
