My husband used to be not-so-picky about what moisturiser he put on his face. He had a huge bottle of Nivea body lotion and just slathered that all over every morning. I had to go and tell him about moisturisers that were specifically made for the face. I even let him use my Clinique, Origins, Clarins and Boots No.7. He found his own brand eventually and is a faithful user that will not deviate. He has been devoted to using Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser for a few years now. It is kind to skin, fragrance-free, colour free and not too heavy.
The bottle says “When your skin’s happy and fresh faced, you feel healthier and happier too! Our Hydrating Light Moisturiser is a perfect blend of active ingredients and vitamin goodness to keep your skin hydrated and nourished all day long. Perfect for even sensitive skin. Two vital vitamins, pro-vitamin B5 actively restores, softens and smoothes. Two skin loving nutrients, glycerin hydrates and nourishes, moisturizes for 12 hours, borage seed oil renews and regenerates. No perfume, no color, no unnecessary or harsh chemicals so it won’t upset your skin. Dermatologically tested and approved.
My husband, Dave, uses this moisturiser only once a day, in the mornings after he has shaved and had a shower. He says he likes it “because it moisturizes my skin very well. You don’t have to put a whole lot of it on. A little goes a long way. It moisturizes my skin all day. My skin seems to like the combination of moisturisers and vitamin E. I’ve tried other moisturisers, but I wouldn’t use any other now.” I have also used it in the summer months when my skin is a bit oilier and it works well for women’s skin too!
He likes the light moisturiser because the rich one was too heavy. “I don’t have that dry skin. The light one is just right. The rich one is too creamy and too much. My skin doesn’t like it.”
He also likes the fact that its fragrance-free. “Fragrance free works. I don’t want to go around smelling like a nancy boy.” And his final and quite animate reason, “And it’s not bloody tested on animals!”
Dave also uses the Simple Moisturising Face Wash in addition to the Light Moisturiser. He likes it because there isn’t any soap in it and it does a great job cleaning his skin, although he thinks it does make his skin feel a bit dry and tight, but the moisturiser overcomes this easily.
Simple skincare products are available widely through England at most supermarkets and drugstores.
