Content of the databank is doctors who paid out malpractices, possibly who were disciplined, what was paid and date if sued, and in what state. It is hard to tell unless we see the databank we pay for? If you want to know if your physician paid out malpractice claims, was disciplined by their state medical board, good luck., you won’t even know if an individual filed a complaint unless you find the doctor in the list of common pleas court cases., those are public records, but apparently not available to the public is the settlement or figures paid, common pleas records are public records, then why not the settlement that is part of it?
After the initial bill in 1986 later on there was a bill introduced or was supposed to be, to open up the NPDB to the public, then I heard nothing, it was like it disappeared., I suspect lobbyists were quite busy in Washington. I will continue to urge our legislators to open up the NPDB that we pay for, I believe is housed in the state of Virginia, that we are not privy to. Feel free to look in any search engine for the NPDB to learn more.
