Call me BUTTTAHHHH!!!! I am on a ROLL! Last week was a 12-4 “shellacking” and I’m really feeling it. So here goes…
Indianapolis 6-6 at Tennessee 5-7 – Payton Manning is throwing about as many TD passes to opposing D’s as he is to his receivers while Kerry Collins doesn’t appear to be emotionally damaged as the “consolation” prize in Tennessee. The Colt defense has been pretty suspect lately, but the Titans are in a complete disarray. Colts 27-17.
Atlanta 10-2 at Carolina 1-11 – The Falcons, finding themselves without a “signature game” (it seems that’s what the TV heads have been saying every week) can’t look ahead to the New Orleans show down. I don’t believe there’s enough anything in the Panther lineup to slow Michael Turner and Co. down, but this is the NFL and I remember what Cleveland did to the Pats. Falcons 34-14.
Cincinnati 2-10 at Pittsburgh 9-3 – The Steelers are riding high after surviving against the Ravens and Cincinnati looked pretty credible in falling just short to the Saints. Two teams going in opposite directions and its Big Ben and the Steel men who are on the rise. Steelers 28-17.
Denver 3-9 at Arizona 3-9 – Broncos make the trip to the desert sans Josh McDaniels. Can Kyle Orton and Knowshon can find some of that “win one for the gone guy” magic, or will the Cards have enough bailing wire to find a way to win. With the HUUUGE QB hole the Cards have, there’s talk of them tanking the rest of the way to move up in the draft. Cardinals 21-14.
Cleveland 5-7 at Buffalo 2-10 – The Bills should start tanking. There are probably 2-3 NFL ready QB’s not named Mallet who might be coming out. They could either parlay a top pick to one of the QB hungry teams for some major draft help….but I’m getting ahead of myself. Cleveland has been a surprise team and Payton Hillis is a beast. They’re only getting better. Browns 40-20.
Green Bay 8-4 at Detroit 2-10 – The Lions season started off so promising, but the Matthew Stafford project was derailed once again. Now they’re on their third QB, but at least Jahvid Best is starting to look healthy. I see Green Bay as the second best NFC team (sorry Bears fans) and look for Aaron Rodgers to lead them to a re-match with the Dirty Birds for the NFC crown. Packers 42-21.
Oakland 6-6 at Jacksonville 7-5 – There can’t be two teams who are more of an enigma than this pair. Just when you think the Raiders are dust, they bow up. The Jags are now in first place in their Division. Jason Campbell and the Raiders are not a good road team and David Garrard shines at home. Jaguars 28-24.
NY Giants 8-4 at Minnesota 5-7 – T-Jack made the most of his opportunity last week, and with Favre’s announcement that “this is it” (like we haven’t heard THAT before) should make it an easy decision to start Jackson….well, not so fast. Viking fans just aren’t all that enamored of Jackson – so maybe they start tanking to get in on the QB derby. The Giants have quietly put together a two game mini-streak and Eli is looking to keep pace with Michael V. Giants 28-20.
Tampa Bay 7-5 at Washington 5-7 – Shannahan has gotten rid of one whiney baby, but there’s still plenty of poison in the Redskin locker room. Josh Freeman tried to do his best “Cam Newton” imitation last week, but the Buccs fell once again to a team with a winning record (though the throwback unis brought back some fond memories). Washington has a losing record, so right on cue…Buccanneers 24-12.
St. Louis 6-6 at New Orleans 9-3 – Sam Bradford finally led the Rams to a road win a couple of weeks ago, and I still think they are the team to beat in the NFC West…..but the Saints have a new ground game with Chris Ivory and are playing strong. They will be chomping at the bit to get to next week. Saints 41-20.
Seattle 6-6 at San Francisco 4-8 – I don’t know how Mike Singletary still has his job, unless there’s no one with the Kahunas to tell him he’s fired. It looks like Alex Smith is back in at QB. Meanwhile, Pete Carroll has got the Seahawks in contention. Forty Niners in an upset 24-21.
New England 10-2 at Chicago 9-3 – The wind and cold won’t affect the “fighting founders” who are looking almost unstoppable lately. Jay Cutler is quietly putting together a nice season, but the Bears will really miss AP in this one. Patriots 41-31.
Miami 6-6 at NY Jets 9-3 – The Pats made the Flyboys look silly last week, but they still have plenty of talent. Davone Bess may be the only Miami receiver on Revis Island this week, and the ‘Phins still have Chad Henne at QB. Mark Sanchez and LT bounce back. Jets 27-10.
Kansas City 8-4 at San Diego 6-6 – This is do or die for the Chargers. I know there’s still a little season left, but to fall behind by three games would just about end all hopes. The Chiefs are in the midst of a nice three game streak, but Matt Cassel had an appendectomy this week. Philip Rivers keeps them alive for one more week. Chargers 24-21.
Philadelphia 8-4 at Dallas 4-8 – John Kitna is warming up and the Cowboys are flying around on D. M-Vick is having a monster year and the Eagles are track team fast. The Birds need a win to keep pace with NY, but Dallas is trying to make things complicated. Cowboys 41-31.
Baltimore 8-4 at Houston 5-7 – The Ravens have to be disappointed at splitting with the Steelers, but Joe Flacco and the “Poe Birds” should find easy pickings in a reeling Texas team. Ravens 24.20.
