Everybody has dryer sheets, and dryer sheets can go far beyond just making your clothes smell nice and fresh in the dryer. From a beauty aide to keeping housecleaning chores that much easier, dryer sheets can be used to save money, improve your household, and make life a whole lot easier!
Use dryer sheets to dust your furniture. Besides leaving a fresh scent behind, dryer sheets absorb dust and static and hair off furniture and appliances. I use dryer sheets to dust off my counters, shelves, television set, even my laptop and other dusty areas. The dryer sheets suck the debris and dust right up, and are much easier than wasting a wash cloth or towel.
To freshen furniture in a pinch, rub down chairs and couches that smell musty from pets and people inhabiting them all the time. A quick rubdown of your couches and chairs and other surfaces leaves them smelling nice, without permeating the air and your furniture with a deodorizing spray.
Place a dryer sheet in your heater vents or your air conditioning vents, and when the air blows through, the fresh scent of your dryer sheets will fill the house with a clean smell that lasts for hours. This is a great quick fix if you have company coming and you need to cover up sweat, pet, and smoke odors fast.
Place dryer sheets in your cat’s litter box before putting the litter in to help the box smell fresh when your cat scratches in their litter. A bonus is that the dryer sheets soak up the cat urine as well, making the ammonia smell of cat urine that much less noticeable. When cleaning out the litter box entirely, replace the dryer sheets in the litter box.
Place dryer sheets under the driver’s seat or passenger seat of your car, and place one or 2 dryer seats in your trunk. This will keep your car smelling fresh and lovely, and just one dryer sheet inside the vehicle will do the trick. This lasts much longer than an obnoxious air freshener, and is a hidden scent.
For rarely used bedrooms or closets that somehow get that “old house” smell in them, place dryer sheets on closet shelves or under the beds of unused bedrooms. The dryer sheets will leave the rooms and closets smelling fresher, longer, and don’t need to be replaced often.
Use dryer sheets to smooth static off your hair and clothing. Dryer sheets are also a great way to get rid of smoke, food odors, and pet smells off of hair and clothing before you head out the door, and will keep your hair from flying everywhere and your clothing from sticking to you.
Put a dryer sheet in your garbage bag or can before you start throwing items away. The dryer sheet will help absorb odors of thrown away items, and will help soak up liquids at the bottom of the bag or can in the event of tearing in the bag for minimal leakage.
For a very old book that has that super musty smell, place a dryer sheet in between pages in the middle of the book to eradicate that ancient library smell so you can enjoy reading your book within just a few hours. Placing a dryer sheet or 2 on your bookshelves helps eradicate that old paper smell in your study or home office as well.
