While I used to be a makeup fanatic, nowadays I only put a sheer powder on my face to keep my sunscreen from leeching into my eyes. However, every now and then I still like to doll up a little like the good ‘ol days, but I hate how time-consuming makeup application can be. I also hate having to constantly check my efforts in the mirror to make sure that my makeup is still in place. So, I only use makeup that I can apply and forget about, still feeling feminine and dolled up without feeling like I look like a clown.
For women who hate makeup but want to have more even looking skin, a tinted moisturizer, sheer powder, and a light bronzer can work wonders. I simply take my liquid concealer and add a tiny dollop of it to my sunscreen for instant rubbed-in coverage, and then put on my sheer powder which just sets the whole deal without hiding my freckles that I love. I then take a light bronzer and sweep it over my cheeks and forehead for an instant radiance. None of this weighs down the face, and takes as long as brushing your teeth.
For the eyes, clear mascara is a must-have. I hate regular mascara, and clear mascara just makes my naturally long and curly lashes look just a bit thicker, and I avoid the bottom lashes entirely. A quick sweep under the top lashes (I’ve even just taken Vaseline rubbed into my finger and swept it up under my top lashes) is all you need. You don’t even notice it’s there, and it won’t flake off, and if you rub your eyes, you won’t smear anything, but you still look great.
Also, take that bronzer and lightly sweep it over your eyelids. A light reflective sheen off your eyes to make your eyes pop without having to worry about even application or eyeliner that runs. Voila! It’s light coverage that makes a big difference, and something that can be rubbed off without even noticing if you forget you have makeup on.
For lips, cherry Chap Stick is a wonderful lip addition. The slight red tint in the chap stick brings out the natural hue in your lips, and is something that you likely use every day anyhow. I wear cherry Chap Stick every single day, and my fiance thinks it looks like lipstick (I have very red natural lips). It brings shine, makes lips appear fuller, and is a chap stick, for goodness’ sakes. Not a gloppy lipstick or lip gloss, and keeps your lips moisturized.
In less than 5 minutes, I look like I am wearing carefully placed natural makeup that is smudge-proof, doesn’t weigh down the skin, and doesn’t make me check the mirror every 5 minutes to make sure nothing is smearing. For ladies who want to doll up now and then without heavy makeup, these simple tips are a must. Even just a light sheer powder to keep moisturizer from “melting” into the eyes and a cherry Chap Stick to keep the lips moist makes all the difference!
