Democrat Congressman James Clyburn never fails to disappoint. In the wake of the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords by a disgruntled constituent we have the left following the playbook to the letter.
First were the over the top assurances that the shooter, deranged Jared Loughner, was an angry conservative, Tea Party follower, Beck loving, Limbaugh listening, Palinite. Then FACTS emerged and we find Loughner believes Bush was behind 9/11, that the Mars Rover is a hoax, that Hitler and Marx’s published works are among his favorites, that skulls are for shrine-making, and shooting his Congressional representative and 19 other folks is a good way to get some attention. He was dead on right about the last one – the gaining attention part.
Now we move to Sage II. This is where the usual suspects call conservative speech “hate speech” and “vitriol” and a danger to the Republic. We’ve seen this before as well. After the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 none less than President Clinton blamed conservative talk radio, at that time meaning Limbaugh almost exclusively, for the event, in spite of the fact that McVey later admitted he was angry about Waco and Ruby Ridge and was retaliating. So it seems McVey’s bombing had nothing to do with conservatism by his own admission.
Stage III is where we stand today. Now we hear Congressman Clyburn’s call for a return of the Fairness Doctrine. Clearly this is his linking conservative political speech and dissemination with the FCC and need to “regulate” said conservatives and their “hate speech” and “vitriol.”
Not to be forgotten Clyburn’s daughter is a member of the board of FCC commissioners, who voted recently for net neutrality. She is the source of the quote about “every nappy headed child” having free internet access. What a grand way to make sure his daughter is more powerful and famous, thus translating to more riches later by sitting on boards of directors and making speeches…just saying.
From far and wide are calls that Loughner was driven to the brink by conservative speech and imagery of violence, as in Sarah Palin’s targeting various Congressional districts for change to Republican hands and how the mere image of a target drives some to commit violence. I know whenever I walk into Wal-Mart and pass the archery targets in the sporting goods department, it’s all I can do to keep from whipping out my concealed pistol and commence to shooting those seeking blue light specials – damn targets do it to me every time!
Isn’t it odd though that when Obama said ‘If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun” and no one thought to kill anyone? Obama is amazing, ain’t he? And when progressive fat mouth Big Ed Schultz gets to opining he gets downright mean and no one thinks his uber heated rhetoric is problematic. Keith Olbermann is on a never ending mission to take down Glenn Beck by calling him every manner of vile creature, but no one thinks Beck needing to wear a bullet proof vest everywhere is because of Olbermann, right?
But let conservatives speak and that’s dangerous. Notice how the “danger” is so ephemeral now that progressives can’t point to specifics mostly, but just get busy with lumping any vociferous opposition of the Obama agenda as dangerous vitriol that may lead to violence? They’ve been floating that one since before he was sworn in. Rush was dead right – any opposition to Obama would be called “racism,” and now we can add that opposition to Obama is also potentially violent according to the left in an effort to shut conservatives up and end opposition to the Obama agenda.
And readers have noticed how after the Ft. Hood shooting revealed a Muslim did it, we were cautioned by progressive media not to “rush to judgment,” yet within minutes of Saturday’s violence it’s announced by lefties, progressives and their media that conservatives either did it or caused it? Wait? I thought no one was supposed to “rush to judgment?” Golly, now I am confused.
Most odd of all is the truth. Like the truth that in the modern history of political violence, it’s almost always progressives and radical lefties doing it? The Weather Underground; The 1968 DNC Chicago riots; the clown who crashed his plane into the building in Texas was a lefty mad at government. Add in when Mayor Bloomberg said the Times Square bomb attempt was probably a person mad about Obamacare. Recall it was an angry Muslim male guilty of that event and not a Tea Party member or an American conservative. Oooppps, Mayor Bloomberg! Oh, and the truth like the Sheriff of Pima County, Arizona is a political office and the Sheriff is a Democrat politician and how he has announced OVER AND OVER that Limbaugh is responsible for this violent act.
Perhaps a return of the Fairness Doctrine is needed. Except this time let’s apportion the stifling of free speech by electoral success. Since only 19% of American’s call themselves liberals, let’s see to it they only control 19% of media outlets! Now that’s what I call FAIRNESS baby!
