Without a doubt, the one type of food that I eat more than any other is creamy peanut butter. While shopping at a small grocery store in Hartford, Connecticut recently, I purchased a small jar of Krasdale brand Creamy Peanut Butter for the first time. Krasdale products are high quality, lower priced alternatives to name brands and are stocked and sold at food retailers throughout the Metropolitan New York and Connecticut area.
Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter.
The net weight of the container of Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter being reviewed here is 12 ounces (340 grams). According to the product’s nutrition facts label, the container holds about 11 two tablespoon servings of peanut butter. In physical size, this container measures approximately 3.5″ x 2.5″ and requires little storage space.
The retail price that I paid, which is the regular retail price, for one 12 ounce container of Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter at a Hartford, Connecticut bodega was $2.19.
While I think that this price is high, it also has to be taken into consideration that the store where I purchased the item is a small, independently – owned retailer, where higher prices have to be charged, in order for the store to stay in business.
Texture / Consistency
The texture, or consistency of Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter seems to be exactly the same as most other brands of creamy peanut butter, including name brand versions. It is smooth and creamy and does not separate in the container, which creates pools of oil.
I do have to say, however, that when I eat this brand of creamy peanut butter, it seems somewhat drier than many other brands of peanut butter.
Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter contains 190 calories, with 150 calories from fat, per two tablespoon serving. This product also contains 3 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 7 grams total fat, 0 mg of cholesterol, 160 mg of sodium, 7 grams total carbohydrates, 2 grams of dietary fiber, 3 grams of sugars and 6 grams of protein, per two tablespoon serving.
Taste / Flavor
Although Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter may feature largely the same appearance and texture as many other brands of creamy peanut butter, its flavor is definitely not the same.
As I type this article, the container of Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter is sitting on a table in front of me. A minute ago, I removed the lid and took a whiff of the peanut butter. Its aroma, like its flavor, reminds me of fresh peanuts, but the flavor does not seem as well balanced as it could be.
Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter basically tastes pretty good. It seems to me however, that a little more salt would improve the flavor of this creamy peanut butter. Also, because it seems somewhat dry to me, a little bit of oil might also improve the flavor.
Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter is packaged in a clear, standard type peanut butter jar with a red label and cap. The jar opens easily and re-closes effectively and offers a listing of all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.
While Krasdale Creamy Peanut Butter is certainly not the best tasting peanut butter I’ve eaten, it does offer a passable flavor. It’s actually a pretty good product. Try it, maybe you’ll like it.
