Justin Bieber is one of the biggest stars in contemporary music and pop culture. From his music to his style to his hairstyle, everything he does is bound to make news. While his newest full length album is not slated to drop until the summer, Justin decides to keep the momentum going by dropping a seven track EP entitled Never Say Never - The Remixes. The title also shares the name of his highly successful movie Never Say Never. Will fans of Justin be in store for a special treat on Valentine’s Day?
The title track Never Say Never features Jaden Smith and was featured in his box office smash The Karate Kid. The duo performed the song on the 53rd annual Grammy Awards to a raucous response. The song has a positive message and is very uplifting.
The highlight of Never Say Never – The Remixes is the Stereotypes and Benny Blanco collaboration Somebody To Love Remix featuring Justin’s mentor Usher. The song is very well put together sonically. It is hard not to enjoy this catchy pop song. Usher’s vocal performance on the track adds so much to it and his protégé holds his own as well.
On Overboard, Justin is joined by Miley Cyrus. The track was recorded when Justin was performing at Madison Square Garden and is featured in his movie Never Say Never. The song is pretty standard teenage pop fare.
That Should Be Me Remix features chart topping group Rascal Flatts. The song is surprisingly a very solidly written pop song. Rascal Flatts adds a very solid vocal delivery to the track.
The most surprising song on Never Say Never – The Remixes is Kanye West’s Runaway Love Remix featuring Kanye himself and Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Clan. Hearing Justin’s light boyish vocals over the harder Kanye West produced track is definitely different. The song surprisingly works in an odd way.
On Up Remix, Justin is joined by R&B singer Chris Brown. The vocals of Chris and Justin blend well together. The track is not the strongest on the project but it is fairly solid.
Born To Be Somebody is the only solo track and closes out the EP. The song is a nice mid-tempo track that features a rousing chorus especially at the end.
Never Say Never – The Remixes is truly for diehard Justin Bieber fans. A large majority of tracks found on the album have already been consumed by the masses. If you are truly a Justin Bieber fan than this is perfect for you, otherwise you can just download the songs you enjoy individually off of iTunes.
