“Justified” Season 2 Episode 7 “Save My Love” begins with Winona, after an evening of hot sex with Raylan, realizing that they do not have the incriminating hundred dollar bill she stole after all.
Thus begins a comedy of errors that almost puts the two in jail. Spoilers follow.
The other plot thread begins at the mine where Boyd is recruited by a shady lady who apparently is an owner for the operation as “security.” It seems that an anti-mine activist has been killed when he was making a video too close to an explosion and feelings are running high at the civil case that has followed.
When Boyd points out that he has a somewhat disreputable past, the mine lady informs him that makes him qualified for the work she has in mind. It is at this point that Boyd should have run. But he does not, because wearing a suit and looking respectable is a new experience for him.
When Raylan tries to secret the incriminating hundred dollar bill into evidence, he finds out that it is too late as it has already been scanned and will almost certainly pop up on someone’s computer as having been involved in another crime. In the meantime, Raylan finds out that Winona took the rest of the money as well. Now, seeing the end of his career and jail ahead of him, he starts to get agitated.
To complicate things, the very court house where Raylan and the Marshals have their office is the venue of the mining civil case. There are death threats, bombs threats, and for some reason there is Boyd there in a suit working “security,” which makes Raylan awfully suspicious.
In the middle of all this, it looks like Winona’s foolish husband is apparently making a deal with someone he ought not to be dealing with concerning that thoroughbred Arabian he ought not to have bought with the rest of his and Winona’s money, an act that caused her to try to take the evidence money to start with.
While Raylan and Winona try to sneak the money back into the evidence room, a bomb threat turns out to be a ruse to get the mine lady out into the open and then shot by a sniper. Raylan and the other deputies thwart that plan.
As for the money, it turns out that it was recorded as having been sent back to the S&L it was robbed from in 1990, which subsequently failed during the S&L crisis. Everyone concerned is dead, so no one knows where the money is or how the hundred dollar bill got involved with the current robbery. So Winona sneaks the money back into a different lock box so, if it was ever found, it would have been assumed to be misfiled. Art knows that Raylan and Winona were at the evidence room doing-something. This may figure later into a plot twist.
Meanwhile Boyd finds out what his “security” jobs entails. It seems that Mags Bennett and her sons are interfering with the mine lady’s plans. Thus they are a problem that needs removing. I try to get out, but they keep pulling me back in.
