A week ago, John Mellencamp filed for divorce from his wife of 18 years, Elaine. A friend of the two says Elaine will keep a level head and be okay.
January 14, 2011 was the date of John Mellencamp’s divorce filing. He is seeking legal separation from Elaine, a supermodel that he wedded in 1992. We know that Mellencamp is eager for the change because he has begun dating Meg Ryan, popular Hollywood actress of the 1990’s (from Sleepless in Seattle and other romantic hits). While people who get prenuptial agreements are often criticized for planning to divorce, the simple fact is that people who have such an agreement avoid a lot of the uncertainty and contention that occurs when a divorce actually does happen.
Another reasons to believe Elaine will keep a level head is that a friend said she will. Divorce is obviously not fun for anyone – and celebrity divorces can be much worse. It seems, though, that John Mellencamp and Elaine are doing everything they can to minimize the disruption and conflict that can occur in divorce. Best of luck to them both, and especially Elaine who is not apparently immediately moving on to another relationship, as John is with Meg Ryan.
