What is African Mango? The diet supplement known as African Mango comes from a tropical fruit found in rain forests of the west-coastal region of Cameroon. This fruit, known locally as wild mango or bush mango, produces a seed referred to as the Dika nut. It has been discovered that the Dika nut has energy increasing properties which boost metabolism, with no reported harmful side effects.
An extract from the African Mango Dika nut has been used for a wide range of medicinal benefits by natives for centuries. The extract is called Irvingia Gabonesis, you may also hear it referred to as just Irvingia, which I will do in this article.
Why should you consider Irvingia (African Mango) as a diet supplement?
Studies conducted on the effects of Irvingia have found that it significantly decreased obesity, LDL cholesterol levels, total cholesterol and triglycerides. In addition, it increased HDL or good cholesterol.
Irvingia is effective because it can reduce the size of fat cells. The extract encourages the use of fat for energy and stimulates the breakdown of fat in your body. Additional research has shown that using Irvingia can also prevent the future storage of fat.
Irvingia from Africa Mango has an ingredient that makes leptin more effective. Leptin is a hormone that tells you to quit eating, you’re full. Obese people have as much leptin as anybody, but they also have higher levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) that binds to the leptin and renders it ineffective. Irvingia shows signs of lowering the CRP in the body, which makes the leptin available and would allow a person that previously didn’t feel full to now feel fuller sooner.
Irvingia can also help people with certain types of diabetes, as it aids in managing glucose levels. The extract delays stomach emptying and leads to greater absorption of sugars, which helps reduce blood sugar levels after a meal. For those with insulin resistant diabetes, Irvingia could provide the needed relief for weight loss problems as well as insulin resistance control. Of course, diabetics should not change their treatment or medication without consulting with their physician.
You do need to understand however, that if you consume more calories than you have the metabolic capacity to utilize, you will not see results using Irvingia. You can’t continue to eat excess calories no matter how much your metabolism has increased. You still have to be healthy and sensible in your eating and exercise habits to realize the full potential of African Mango.
