Hulk Hogan has officially stuck his nose in WWE business. During an recent interview with Peter Rosenburg, Hulk Hogan bashed The Rock for returing to the WWE, and bashing Cena is his epic promo.
“They’ve spent so much time building John Cena up. There’s a way to really build somebody up, but all of a sudden within three or four seconds, he had the whole arena screaming that Cena sucks,” Hogan said.
“Sometimes I don’t understand the philosophy. John Cena is going to be there all the time. Even though The Rock said he’s back, he’s only back for one day. He’s not going to be there wrestling every single day like John Cena is, really holding it down and really keeping it real. All that stuff is scripted. They had Stephanie McMahon and the writers telling The Rock exactly what to say. I just didn’t understand why they would want to destroy Cena so quickly.”
Why does everyone think that bashing John Cena will hurt his career? John Cena is very popular and loved by many fans of the WWE Universe. In comparison to The Rock’s popularity, Cena is not even close. Despite Cena being the top guy, he has that shadow of the IWC that hates him for many reasons. WWE Writers have finally recognized that, and The Rock will satisfy those non-Cena fans by bashing him. In the process, this is boosting John Cena’s career big time. Hulk Hogan’s comment show that despite him being involved with wrestling for so long, he doesn’t know anything about wrestling angles.
Hulk Hogan is the reason why wrestling became popular so long ago. He had his time for many years, but this guy is so washed up. He had epic moments, but guys like HHH, Rocky, Stone Cold, and The Undertaker have carried the torch for wrestling for many years. Hulk Hogan has been irrelevant for so long now. If he were to return to the WWE, the ratings wouldn’t change. He is too old and predictable, and needs to heal by retiring full time.
Hogan made all those claims about TNA was going to take over Monday Nights and etc. In the end, he has shot himself in the foot and has failed to keep his promises. TNA is already a terrible wrestling promotion, and then add Hulk Hogan to the mix. Your guaranteed to get old washed up wannabe WCW storylines, and don’t forget Vince Russo writes TNA storylines. For a number of weeks, I tried to watch TNA when Hulk first debuted on there, and eventually I stopped watching. Despite TNA making recent improvements in ratings as of late, they will eventually fall off again. Hogan’s presence on TNA just hurts them and no one seems to see it. He just seems to have such an influence on everything, and its just a shame.
Bret Hart even spoke out on Hulk Hogan’s lack of wrestling knowledge. Hart made these comments in December 2010:
“That (Hogan and Bischoff) is where I take issue with TNA — I fear they just bought the names and ended up with the same bologna.”
“He (Hogan) believes in his heart he is the star of the show, that he is wrestling. I don’t think he gives a damn about anybody else.” He said Samoa Joe may be better off, especially monetarily, if he went to WWE.
He was also asked if he would make the move to TNA, Bret said, “I would not rule it out — I would never be there if Hogan and Bischoff are there.”
There you have it. That proves that Hogan is wrong about the Cena/Rock storyline. Hogan is envious of Rocky’s greatness and knows The Rock has surpassed him. Rock got the biggest pop in wrestling in recent years. Not just the WWE, the biggest pop in wrestling in like 5 years. Hulk Hogan’s presence alone can’t boost TNA and that’s why frustration has set in. The sad part is The Rock wrote in autobiography “The Rock Says” that he grew up a big Hulk fan, and he used to pretend like he was Hogan as a child. Rock has never bashed Hulk in any type of way, and has always respected Hulk Hogan.
