What to do about the cost of your electricity.
Well we all know that we can’t live without it but why not try to live without using so much.Yeah yeah I know sounds like a cliche doesn’t it ? But truly to save money on your electric bill you just need to use less. Like your parents told you when you were a kid if you’re not in the room “shut off the light”,or how about this one “close that door are you trying to heat the outdoors or what?” Well there are many ways to lower the electric bill so here they are:
Turn off your heat when you’re not home
:Use a ceiling fan instead of a air conditioner
*Use a space heater to heat rooms so you’re not heating the whole house when you don’t have to.
*If you can use a clothesline to dry your clothes, you’ll have to iron them after but it’ll save you a few dollars.
*Remember to shut off your computer when you’re not using it.
* Replace your incandescent light bulbs with fluorescent bulbs
*Unplug anything that doesn’t need to be plugged in.
*Turn your water heater down to 120 degrees if it already isn’t.
*Make sure your windows are sealed tight so air doesn’t get in or out
*Replace top loading clothes washer with front loading washer.
*Replace old appliances anything over 15 years old should be replaced
*Wrap your water heater with reflective insulation
*Wash clothes in warm or cold water
*Use a low flow showerhead
*Install a water flow mandated toilet meaning 2 different water pressures for use
*Turn your refridgerator to 35 to 40*
*For small meals cook with a microwave or a toaster oven I lioke to use a George Forman grill myself and a charcoal grill as well.
*Run your appliances in the evening when the utility rates are at a lower rate
*Replace your furnace filter 1 a month
Add insulation to your attic and weather stripping to your doors and windows as needed
*Open your drapes in the winter and close them in the summer
* lower your thermostat setting 5 degrees when youin bed or not home.
*Use fans to help circulate air in the house as well as ceiling fans or you could set up a cooler full of ice in front a fan and cool your room with that it really works for a while anyway( till the ice melts).
*Make sue vents are closed in rooms that aren’t being used
*Well there they are I hope they help you If you want to save even more you could make a solar panel or wind power generator. As the years go by electricity will go up in cost more and more so be smart and be prepared. To save money now go to . save money on electricity.
