Facebook is currently one of the most popular social networking sites. Measuring millions of daily active users, Facebook has evolved into a powerful communication and marketing tool. But most important, Facebook is all about fun. Thousands of applications and games are promising to kill the boredom away. However, if you do not enjoy playing games, your news feed and request page becomes your true nightmare. Every day you are called to either accept or ignore each single game request. And when you just wish to take a look at your friends’ news feed, all you get to see is how good they are doing in Farmville, how many opponents have killed in Mafia Wars and that they are now Top Chefs in Café World. Want to get rid of these so annoying requests? Here is how to do it:
1. News Feed
Click on the News Feed stories tab to open the main news feed homepage. Find a game notification and click on ‘Hide’. Once you do so, a box will appear giving you the option to either hide the news stories from the specific contact or simple hide the game’s notifications. If you choose the second option, you will simply hide the game and not the contact.
To completely remove all game news feed stories, scroll down the page until you hide all games. Keep on doing that as the news feed page keeps updating. After a while, there will be no game notifications on your news feed page!
2. Game Requests
Visit the game and applications requests page and find the game notifications. Just under each request, you will find the options to accept or ignore the specific request, block all requests from the specific user or block all requests from the specific game.
If you just ignore the request, they will keep coming back. But, if you block the game, then you block all requests forever. Moreover, if you have a friend that keeps on sending you requests for games or applications and you simply do not care, then you can block requests from the specific users by blocking him. You will only block his/hers requests and not the actual user; you will keep on interacting with him/her in any way.
3. Unhide Requests
Nevertheless, there is always a chance to get intrigued by a game. But you have hided both the news feed stories and the game’s requests losing precious gifts, bonuses, coins and experience points. How to take it back? Simply scroll down the main news feed page and click on the ‘Edit Options’ tab. A new window will pop up named News Feed Settings. There, on the right you will find options such as ‘Show More’, ‘Hide’ and ‘Number of Friends’ showed on news feed stories. To unhide the game you have blocked, go to the ‘Hide’ window, locate the game on the list and click on the ‘x’ button on the right. That’s it! The game will now appear again on your stories!
Game requests and notifications can literally destroy your Facebook experience. Do not quit Facebook; just hide the frustrating game notifications!
