With caller ID and many of the new phone features private calls have greatly increased. There are many reasons why a phone number can show up as private caller. A person could be entering a phone code prior to calling, or they may have it set up that the telephone company keeps their phone number private, regardless there are steps you can follow to find a private telephone number.
1. Find a private telephone number being blocked by telephone codes-
Unblock a call that shows up “private caller” by using the last called number code. Once you receive a call from a “private caller” hang up, pick your phone back up listen for dial tone then dial *69. This will then repeat to you the number of the last caller.
2. Finding the name of “private name”
To find a telephone number that shows up by the name shows “private name” you can use the internet to assist you in finding out the private caller’s identity. There are various reverse look-up features online that will enable you to enter the phone number to look up the location and name of a private caller. This method can also be used if the name of the person shows up but the telephone number shows up private, you would just use these online search sites by searching for the name of the private caller.
3. Finding a telephone number that is being blocked by the providers company.
The solution to this problem is not as easily fixed. But if someone is harassing you or there are long term issues with the private caller, these steps will help you prevent them from furthering any aggravation.
A.) Setting up anonymous call rejection-
Set up anonymous call rejection. Once anonymous call rejection is in place anyone calling from a private or blocked number will receive a recording instruction the caller how to unblock their number before the call will go through.
B.) Setting up privacy manager-
Set up privacy manager. This feature is a little more time consuming for callers calling your number. Callers will be required to record their name and telephone number when they call you. A call will be placed to your home number and you will hear a recording of their person’s name and phone number. You can then either accept the call or reject it.
C.) Using *57 to trace a call-
*57 will trace the last incoming telephone call. Your phone company will then log all the traced calls and will release them to the appropriate law enforcement. This method is only to be used if you are being harassed over the telephone. The telephone company will not provide the callers information to you based on privacy rights, but it will be released to the appropriate law enforcement for legal actions to take place. Each time you trace a call take note of the time and date in a call log book.
