In the latest installment of the hilarious romp-com hit “How I Met Your Mother”, airing Mondays at 8pm ET on CBS, entitled “Architect of Destruction”, irony hits Ted square in the heart. As the show intertwines amongst the gang’s recent happenstances, Ted Mosby (portrayed by ), falls for one beautiful activist, intent on saving a parcel of land from the proverbial iron ball.
In “Architect of Destruction”, Ted meets a compelling transvestite in front of an old hotel, one that he notices how he loves the simplicity of it’s architecture. The next day, he meets the same person again, in the same place. However, he now realizes that Zoe, (portrayed by Jennifer Morrison), is not only not a male dressing as a female, but is a very comely female, campaigning to save the one piece of land that the Goliath National Bank, (GNB), the multi-national bank that Barney (portrayed by Neil Patrick Harris) and Marshall (portrayed by Jason Segel) work at, and whose new building Ted has recently been hired to design.
In trying to get Ted to agree that he is quitting his job over a girl and not over his principles, Barney says “new is always better” and goes on trying to impress upon Ted how a new building would be so much better than what is now an eye sore on the landscape of NYC. But Ted comes back with how scotch is better when older, smaller is better than bigger (cell phones, etc, and, Marshall’s friend from college, dating Robyn, has a “small penis”, which is the premise for Marshall’s lunacy this week).
Ted, in trying to impress her, signs Zoë’s petition to save the Arcadia, and, being the architect for the bank that wants to build on the site that his new female interest loves so dearly will no doubt have it’s impact upon any chances of this relationship moving forward. But Ted, always the romantic, moves steadily forward, until caught in his lie like a doe caught in the rays of a car’s headlights at night.
How was Ted’s lie made known? In a comedic “Barney-ism”, Barney drapes a large picture of Ted over the Acadian, in a muse to make Ted not leave his new job as the architect, and his one chance to finally design his own building. Ted decides to try to work on it, to make it both reflect GNB, and save the heritage of the original building,, and puts a lot of work into it. Then he sees Zoe’s wedding ring, and realizes it was all about the girl, not the building, and leaves her behind with no explanation.
“How I Met Your Mother” is a funny, witty and friendship-induced series with a loyal fan base and many, many people joining in to see what the fuss is all about each and every week. Stay tuned for next week’s show, and come back for insider information.
