When it comes to men’s razors, I don’t give a damn that I am a women, and use them, I loved getting the Schick Hydro 3, the Schick Hydro 5, and the Gillette Fusion Proglide Power 5 razors, for free at local drugstores. Yes, the secret is to buy one, pay for it, and get the coupon back for the full amount, less the tax, and then purchase the next one.
My husband uses an electric razor, so these all belong to me. I first had the Gillette Fusion Proglide Power razor, and have to say how delighted I have been with it. I don’t know how long men use each cartridge before purchasing a new one, but mine is still going strong. As this razor has a power switch, it is the simplest of razors, and just glides through the Schick Hydro Sensitive Shave Gel that I am using. I haven’t had a nick or skin irritation from this razor.
Then I was sent a coupon for the totally free Schick Hydro 5 razor. I thought this to be just as good as the Gillette Fusion Proglide Power. The price of these are both around $10 without any discounts.
So now it is the turn of the Schick Hydro 3. If I had of purchased this razor it would have cost me around $7, so I have to judge this against 2 other razors that are around $3 more expensive. The Schick Hydro 3 is just as heavy/strong as both of the other razors. The Gillette looks slightly bigger, but when put together they are all a standard size.
So the crunch is when I am using it. I purposely left my areas to shave for a full week. Normally I shave 3 times a week. I applied the Schick Hydro Sensitive Shave Gel, under my arms, along my bikini area, and over my legs. I then dipped the Hydro 3 into the basin of water, and took it under my arms. I then rinsed the razor, and checked my armpits. They were silky smooth.
Next to the bikini area, and I was really surprised to see how well it had performed. I didn’t think a 3 blade razor could give me a clear shaven area as good as the 5 blade ones.
Then it came down to my legs. The Hydro 3 had no problem in removing the hairs on my legs. I rinsed the blades between each section. My skin felt soft and smooth.
I have to say that the cheaper version, didn’t come up inferior to the Hydro 5 blade razor. It removed the hairs just as good as the Gillette Fusion Proglide too.
So if you are thinking about saving around $3, and buying the Schick Hydro 3, then I would certainly tell you to go ahead and do it. The Hydro 3 and 5 come with 2 cartridges, whereas the Gillette only has the 1.
Also you will probably save money on the price of the cartridges too.
