GOOGLE TRENDS/”HEADLINE NEWS” – The Houston Marathon 2011 is happening today and comedian David Frye passed away – although I’m not sure there is a connection between the two. I should also mention that racers are preparing for competition in the Rolex 24 at Daytona (somehow Rolex doesn’t seem to fit with NASCAR racing), and footballers are getting ready for the Pro Bowl 2011.
Also in the news is the Halo Corporation – either a private security firm or an attempt to reconcile Jews to Jesus, depending upon your practical and theological priorities I suppose. In any case if it is the private security firm then it has something to do with a TV show and that might elicit a interest in Stagevu – another tip news.search item. Although, I imagine most folks will be watching the Pro Bowl.
It is fun and informative to find out what is on the mind of America on any given day. It’s simple enough to do; just look at Google trends and you’ll see what the most searched terms are at that point in time (updated every hour I think). For instance, it is interesting to me that the Houston Marathon 2011 is at the top of the list. Who would’ve thought so many people in the USA are interested in torturing themselves (or noting the self-flagellation of another). On the other hand, I can understand why people were interested in the passing of David Frye. After all, there aren’t many like him today. He and Rich Little were a couple of the better-known impersonators – both of them doing a pretty darn good Richard Nixon. The interest in Rolex 24 Daytona and the Pro bowl are understandable.
Anyway, that gives you a snapshot of what occupies the mind of America Sunday morning, 8 a.m. Pacific standard Time.
