Ridgway, Colorado celebrates the season in style with lots of events for children and adults. This small mountain town caters to its residents with a host of activities.
The holiday events begin with a day long celebration in Hartwell Park which has activities for all ages. Hartwell park is a beautiful park in the center of Ridgway that is maintained by the local Parks and Recreation Department.
December 4: “Christmas In the Park” begins at 11 am in Hartwell Park, Ridgway. Events include carriage rides, corral activities, a bonfire, and refreshments for everyone. Santa will stop by from Noon-2 pm, so make sure to take along your camera. Call 970 626-5181 for more information.
December 4: Ridgway Holiday Art and Craft Bazaar at the Ridgway Community Center. Open 10 am-4pm.
December 11: Holiday Home Tour on Log Hill Mesa. This festive annual event is sponsored by the Fortuna Tierra Club. Tickets are $15 and you’ll be able to tour 5 homes from Noon-4pm. The Fortuna Tierra Club is a non-profit organization that supports education and scholarships to students in Ridgway.
December 11: Divide Ranch Clubhouse Craft Fair at the golf course. The Divide Ranch Clubhouse is hosting their 2nd annual craft fair from 11 am – 5 pm. This craft fair was a big success last year and will be even better this year.
December 11: Fairy & Pixie Ornament Workshoop for Kids and Families at Weehawken Ridgway, Trail Town Unit K behind the Conoco Station. A fun event for the kids to make their own decorations as gifts or to keep. There are two types of ornaments taught at this workshop. One is to learn how to make German folk art pixies to hang on the tree and the other is to make a photo onament of your pet or favorite person. Bring photos for this workshop and the cost is between $11 and $20. You can register online at www.weehawken.org and click on calendar.
December 12: Gingerbread House Decorating. This is a very popular event for families and it’s sponsored by Weehawken Creative Arts in Ridgway. Reservations are required and it’s first come, first serve. The workshop begins is from 1-3 pm at Condor Hall in the Ridgway Elementary School. This is a free program but you must make reservations online at www.weehawken.org or call 970 318-0150.
December 14: Ridgway Elementary School Christmas Concert at 7 pm at the Ridgway Elementary School.
December 16: Ridgway Secondary School Winter Holiday Concert at 7 pm. This concert will have the high school band and choir performing at the high school.
