Now and then we all want a change of pace. For me I had been thinking of shaving my head for a while. I don’t mean buzz cut I mean OFF, no hair, Dr. Evil, Vin Diesel, Yul Brynner bald. I had done it once before and found the shaving process time consuming and somewhat difficult. Now being that I wanted to shave my head I began to do research online and found a nifty little product called the HeadBlade. It looked like someone grafted a razor onto a Hot Wheels car. Still I decided to let it go, until I saw it at WalGreens. Now for 12.99 I was curious and since I didn’t have to pay shipping I decided it was worth it. I bought one and the HeadSlick shave cream for 5.99.
At home I cut my hair down to about 1/16th of an inch with an electric shears. I then proceeded to shave my head. I lathered up with the shave cream and went for it. Unfortunately it seems that my hair is to much for a triple blade razor. I have had this experience before shaving my face. So I went back to my single blade razor and used that. The single blade razor got closer but not close enough. I grabbed the HeadBlade and tried again. This time the HeadBlade worked like magic. It was sort of like carefully rolling a small car across your head. I actually found myself enjoying the sensation and as the HeadBlade gave me a much closer shave I was much happier than I was with just a regular razor.
Some clear advantages is that the HeadBlade is specifically designed for use on ones head. I found it worked rather well. It was even fun to use. The wheels naturally guide the HeadBlade in straight lines, which is great because moving it sideways could cut you head. Any razor suffers from that problem though. The HeadBlade just makes it easier.
The big disadvantage was having trouble cutting through my hair at 1/16th of an inch. I half expected that though as I lave that problem with all razors with more than one blade. They just get gunk in them and don’t work well.
The HeadBlade will shave your head clean though. Much closer than my single blade regular razor could and since I have used it a couple times without irritation or cuts on my head I am more than happy with it. The HeadSlick shave cream is also really nice and I believe it contributes significantly to the happiness of my head post shave.
I give the product a 4.5 out of 5. I liked it a lot but not quite enough to justify a 5. It does make shaving your head fun and easy. I would gladly recommend it. Don’t let my profile pictures fool you. Those were taken with a buzz-cut. I am now bald and proud.
