Fans of the “Gears of War” series have been waiting for the release of “Gears of War 3;” the epic conclusion to the “Gears of War” game franchise, since Cliff Bleszinski announced its false, April, 2011, release date at the 2010 E3 show. It seems like the developers over at Epic Games keep pushing the release date back; teasing fans with new press releases to keep them in a frenzy, and it seems to be working!
As of February 22, 2011, a limited number of fans will finally get the chance at their first real taste of what lies ahead in “Gears of War 3” multiplayer mode, but they are going to have purchase the upcoming “Bulletstorm: Epic Edition”, a first person shooter by Epic Games where players score experience by achieving insane kill combos. Of course, the “Epic Edition” of “Bulletstorm” also includes extra content, and is priced at $59.99. You can download the “Bulletstorm Demo” from the XBOX Live Game Marketplace for free and check it out first, before making the decision to buy it.
“Gears of War 3” was voted The Most Anticipated Game of 2011, at Spike TV’s 2010 Video Game Awards, and that could be this year’s biggest understatement. Many fans awaiting the release of the final chapter in the “Gears of War” saga, have been frantically playing away at “Gears of War 2”, while being appeased, every month or so, by the developers over at Epic Games ,with Bonus XP Weekends, allowing players to finally get the rank they need to unlock many of the in-game achievements.
The next of these events, Torque Bows Of Love: A Valentine’s Day Event, is coming soon on Valentine’s Day weekend, February 11th-15th, and will net players 14 times the XP on Wingman mode, and 7 times the XP on all other multiplayer modes. That’s quite the consolation prize for having to wait.
What will we expect in the Beta run of the new “Gears of War 3” multiplayer mode? According to announcements made at the 2010 E3 convention, everything that they loved about previous “Gears of War” multiplayer will remain, but with a lot more new features and improvements.
Dedicated Servers
Matchmaking connection speed and reliability will no longer rely on a single host player’s server, but will now be achieved through dedicated servers, which Epic secretly tested in “Gears of War 2” multiplayer, according to a source at IGN.comIGN.com. This means players will experience must faster matchmaking and the gamer hosting the game will no longer have the advantage of a better connection to the network.
New Weapons
“Gears of War” fans always stick to their guns when it comes to their choice of weapons. “Gears 3” will still feature the same great weapons, but with added twistHammerburstThe Hammerburst now has an iron-sight, with a single zoom feature, making shots deadlier and more accurate. Players who favored the classic Gorgon pistol will have to get usedSMG the Gorgon SMG automatic pistol as well.
The Lancer is by far the most widely loved weapon in the “Gears of War” saga and will be returning in “Gears of War 3”, so gamers will still be able to tear through the enemy with the Lancer’s chainsaw attachment, as well as still being able to have brutal chainsaw duels. The significance of the Lancer’s return is the addition of the Pendulum Lancer, which features a deadly bayonet attachment and more stopping power. Unfortunately, gamers will have to sacrifice accuracy when using the Pendulum Lancer.
Any “Gears of War” fan that stays true to sniping out the enemy with the Long Shot, is going to have a field day with the One Shot; “Gears of War 3’s” premiere sniper rifle. It apparently takes a little longer to reload than the Long Shot, but it’s zooaccuaracys and accuaracy will be twice as impressive.
If shotguns are your style, you can still pickGnasher trusty Gnasher, but now players can blast holes in the competition with a new shotgun, the new Sawed-off; a much bulkier weapon, with more power, but shorter range.
Not only will “Gears” fans get new guns, but “Gears of War 3” will also feature the debut of the Incendiary Grenade, another explosive edition to the “Gears of War” experience, and there could be moreMultiplayer
New Multiplayer Modes
Capture the Leader is a new mode, that combines Guardian, and Submission, into one game mode. Themultiplayers new multiplayer match is to capture the opposing team’s leader and hold onto them for 30 seconds, without getting killed of course. The leader then has a chance to escape from your grasp every few seconds, which could result in a second chance at victory.
Apparently the other modes, like King of the Hill and Annex, will still remain the same, but the main matchmaking mode will be focused onWarzonesed to be Warzone, and is now Deathmatchd Team DeathmatDeathmatche Team Deathmatch your grandma used to play tDeathmatchs Team Deathmatch starts off with each team having 20 lives. The last team left alive wins the round and whoever wins 2 rounds first, takes home the prize.
Of course, the fall release date of “Gears of War 3” has yet to be officially released, so there is so much more time for the developers at Epic Games to add even more weaponmultiplayer, and multiplayer game modes. In a few short weeks, everyone whBulletstorm the “Bulletstorm: Epic Edition” is going to get what they have been waiting for. At least a small taste of it anyway!
