When I recently ordered some hair products from Drugstore.com, I received a free sample of Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff Intense Cleanse shampoo. Although I usually disregard of samples if they are drugstore hair products, all of my cosmetologist friends have always recommended Garnier Fructis. As someone who suffers from psoriasis of the scalp which worsens in the winter, I decided to try it. Would Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff shampoo work though? Here’s what I found.
Many anti-dandruff shampoos tend to have strong, chemical odors. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I tried Garnier Fructis, but I discovered right away that the scent was pleasant. Like many other Garnier Fructis, it has a light fruity scent. Unlike some products, however, the scent did not linger after watching it – which I would have preferred.
The first thing that I noticed about Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff Intense Cleanse shampoo is that it had a somewhat grainy texture, which reminded me a lot of a facial scrub. I thought that perhaps the “grains” were designed to remove dry skin and hoped that this product would work better than other over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoos.
When I lathered and massaged the product into my scalp as directed, I found that I liked the texture. I tend to stay away from products which are very lathery, as they seem to worsen my psoriasis. Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff shampoo has a smooth, creamy texture rather than a lathery texture like Head ‘N Shoulders.
When I used Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff shampoo, I had an itchy scalp and very mild flaking. This product did effectively get rid of the problem. The only disadvantage of Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff Intense Cleanse shampoo is that it caused my scalp to tingle for about an hour after washing, which is quality that I could do without.
An online search revealed that the price of Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff Intense Cleanse shampoo is comparable in price to the cost of any other Garnier Fructis shampoo product. It costs about $4 for a bottle, which is a very affordable price for an effective anti-dandruff shampoo.
Overall, Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff shampoo is a good option for anyone who is looking for a drugstore solution for a mild case of flakes. The product works effectively to get rid of dandruff and has a nice, light scent – but it does leave the scalp feeling a little bit tingly after washing. While I would not recommend it for severe cases of dandruff, Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff shampoo works much more effectively than Head ‘N Shoulders.
