“The Mentalist” typically delivers nail-biting scenes, plot twists and surprising developments week after week. Viewers are always rooting for or against certain couples and hoping that story lines are going to take a turn in a certain direction. Despite everything that’s already happened on the popular drama, there are other events that could open the door for some very interesting new story lines.
Jane Gets Wounded
Jane goes through so many dangerous situations but, for the most part, manages to escape with minor injuries and barely any bumps and bruises. Many times, he throws himself into these situations and almost expects that he’s never going to get hurt. Jane is very stubborn, so it would be an interesting twist to have him actually stay in the hospital for more than a day due to an injury he receives while working a case. Even in Season 1, Episode 16, titled “Bloodshot,” Jane temporarily went blind from being too close to an explosion, yet he left the hospital against doctor’s advice and continued to work on a case. Depending on the injury, he’ll likely have no choice but to stay in the hospital. It’ll show a vulnerable side that isn’t due to an emotional trauma from his past.
Rigsby and Van Pelt Get Married
Many viewers were quite upset after Rigsby and Van Pelt broke up, but little did they know that was just the start of the disappointment. Rigsby is not too happy when Van Pelt later gets another boyfriend, Agent O’Laughlin. In Season 3, Episode 14, titled “Blood for Blood,” she revealed that she’s engaged. Rigsby and Van Pelt seem to be two characters that work very well together and their relationship brought a lot to the show. It would be a good development for Van Pelt to dump her fiancee, get back with Rigsby and eventually marry him.
It’s very rare that you see any of the characters on “The Mentalist” let loose, so putting them in a position where they not only let themselves completely go but also do so while they’re drunk sets a scenario that could go a lot of different ways. People also have a tendency to reveal private thoughts after they’ve had quite a bit to drink, so it would be very interesting to see what everyone is keeping secret beneath the surface.
Kiss Between Lisbon and Jane
There are more than enough viewers that wait anxiously each week hoping that Jane and Lisbon are going to stop being ridiculous and just kiss already. The kiss doesn’t necessarily have to happen on purpose – it can even be one of those things that happens spur-of-the-moment. For example, it can be something they do during a case so they’re not spotted by a criminal they’re tracking. The expressions afterward on the faces of Jane and Lisbon would certainly be something to see, especially if the rest of the group spots them as well.
There will undoubtedly be more twists and turns in the story lines on “The Mentalist” and hopefully, many will be completely unexpected and catch viewers off-guard. With even better story lines comes a possibility for an even larger fan base.
