Food Product Review: Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy Cherry Chocolate Chip

by tree pony

After trying Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy Mango Vanilla I wanted to try another flavor of cholesterol free, dairy free soy milk dessert that the store’s vegan frozen dessert brand Soy Creamy offered, Cherry Chocolate Chip. This soymilk ice cream like frozen desert combines cherry and chocolate pieces and some organic ingredients. Here’s my review of Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy Cherry Chocolate Chip.

Recyclable Packaging

A 32oz quart (946ml) of Trader Joe’s own store brand of Soy Creamy Cherry Chocolate Chip Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert was purchased at Trader Joe’s for $3.69. Packaging of this non-dairy ice cream is a red paperboard ice cream container with images of green soybean plants growing around the base and a pair of cherries in the center. Shrink wrap type plastic is around the lid which. My curbside recycling takes shrink-wrap along with its frozen food paperboard container. Package recyclability is something I take into consideration when purchasing products.

Vegetarian, Vegan, Organic, Kosher

This creamy ice cream like dessert vegetarian and vegan and carries the Vegan symbol and the Kosher circle U with the word Parve. This vegan ice cream also contains organic ingredients including organic soymilk, organic cane sugar, and organic oleic safflower oil. It lists one allergen, soy.

“Vanilla” as vanilla extract is stated in the ingredients of the vegan non-dairy ice cream, unlike some dairy ice creams including Breyers All Natural. It also contains other natural flavors. There are no artificial colorings or flavorings in the easy to read all natural ingredients of this cherry chocolate flavored Soy Creamy brand vegan frozen dessert.

Taste

Upon opening the package of this vegan ice cream dessert, you will see pink cherry flavored soy milk ice cream with cherry pieces and vegan chocolate chips. This cherries pieces in this product reminded me of the ones in Breyers cherry flavors. The taste of soymilk in this dairy free ice cream was mild and reminded me a little of a cherry vanilla rice milk or Soy Dream. The chocolate pieces taste like chocolate pieces in other icecreams even though they were vegan and made without milk.

If you like the taste of vanilla soy milk or rice milk you will probably like this Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy vegan ice cream product. I like it and the combination of fruit and ice cream and this vegan ice cream would go well with fresh fruit like strawberries, bananas, and blackberries.

Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy Cherry Chocolate Chip Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert is a delicious soy milk ice cream. I like the cherry, vanilla, and chocolate flavor combination and I liked this non-dairy frozen dessert and that it contains some organic ingredients. This soymilk ice-cream is suitable for those who prefer a vegetarian or vegan dessert, or those with dairy allergies who need something dairy free. While it doesn’t have much protein or calcium, its cholesterol free and tastes delicious. I would buy it again and hope to find more Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy flavors.
