1. The Wedge Co-op
2105 Lyndale Avenue South Minneapolis, MN
If you are looking for a great family friendly,or just overtly friendly organic Co-op in the heart of a busy metropolis then the Wedge Co-op in Minneapolis is the place to go. The wedge is located in the literal heart of the maelstrom in regards to it’s location, but inside the organic supermarket you will find nearly a small town atmosphere to assist you in your organic needs. The Wedge offers a wide array of organic items from toothpaste to olives, in fact all your organic inventory is covered in this excellent co-op. Also the wedge offers excellent customer service with plenty of friendly faces eager to discuss organic options and products with you. Last but not least is the deli which offers a multitude of original organic creations specifically hot to go items. Overall an organic jewel surrounded by skyscrapers.
2. Mississippi Market Co-op
1500 West Seventh St. Paul, MN
If the Wedge is that organic jewel in the bustle of the busy city of Minneapolis, Mississippi Market Co-op would be its equal in St. Paul. Mississippi Market Co-op in the West Seventh neighborhood of St. Paul is an excellent source for anything organic required. Despite it’s somewhat sterile outside appearance, within Mississippi Market you will find a warm and welcoming environment along with an abundance of organic food experts. Just like the Wedge in Minneapolis, Mississippi Market has a huge inventory of organic items, literally anything you need. They also have an excellent variety of fresh produce and great deals for to-go deli items. They feature a full service deli along with a cozy cafeteria to down your freshly created food. The fresh and ready sandwich’s serve as an excellent option for a quick lunch break decision as well.
3. Fresh & Natural Foods
1075 West Highway 96 Shoreview, MN
If you’re away from the two twin metropolis’s and are in need of some great organic fare check out Fresh and Natural Foods in Shoreview just out of St. Paul. Located in a small strip mall it’s a hard place to spot when flying down Highway 96. At Fresh and Natural Foods the selection of goods is not as vast as the Wedge or Mississippi Market but the inventory is still pretty good, more then likely you will find whatever your organic diet requires. The nicest thing about Fresh and Natural Foods might be the elaborate deli, where the soups and smoothies in particular are delicious and original. Even beyond the deli is the catering which is special to Fresh and Natural Foods, and an excellent option for any of your meetings or celebrations.
4. Seward Co-op Grocery & Deli
2823 East Franklin Avenue Minneapolis, MN
Going back to the city of Minneapolis the Seward Co-op Grocery and Deli is another excellent source of delicious organic creations. Featuring a spectacular green design that stands our from the rest of East Franklin Avenue like a living star, arriving at Seward Co-op Grocery and Deli simply makes you feel like you’re arriving into a hub for all the green initiatives taking place in our modern world. With a massive amount of specials including some not just for their members, Seward is a great place to penny pinch in terms of organic options. Not only is the inventory great there, but it also allows you to become involved in other green initiatives that are communicated to you through the friendly staff. Overall a trend-setter in organic supermarkets Seward Co-op Grocery and Deli does not disappoint in any fashion.
5. Grassroots Co-op
1917 2nd Avenue Anoka, MN
If you’re far away from both cities and you need your local homegrown organic fix then look no further the Grassroots Co-op in Anoka. On the sandy plains of Anoka far away from the Twin Cities you will find a haven of organic food and produce. All produce comes fresh from local farms in the immediate area, and almost all of Grassroots Co-op inventory is 100% organic. Also, something that I have not stressed in the previous organic supermarkets is the reasonable rate available to become a member of the Co-op. Grassroots Co-op is a great place to join because of their reasonable rate, low fee’s and overall benefits of being a member. If you’re interested in becoming a member of Co-op this would be an excellent place to begin that experiment. Overall a great local organic supermarket that really shines with its local produce that is readily available.
