Naming the best city to visit is a difficult task. What one individual would find entertaining or exciting, others may find a complete waste of time. There are however, cities which have so much to offer, so much variety, they literally have something for everyone. Which city actual ranks best will depend on the individual, but the cities that made this list should at least be in the running for almost anyone.
New York City, the Big Apple, the city that never sleeps, has such a variety of peoples, attractions and cultures it is literally a city for everyone. The Broadway lights, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, the Empire State Building and Ground Zero are just a few of the sights offered by New York. You can also enjoy any cuisine you desire, and if you are a pro-sports fan the city has more to offer than any other single city in the nation. While the crowds and massive size of the city will intimidate some, it is also a large part of the draw of the city. The number of museums, art galleries, and musical outlets can compare to any city in the nation, or in the world for that matter. If there is any city on the nation which can honestly say it has something for everyone, it would be New York City.
Washington D.C. must make the list simply because there is so much to see, to experience, to take in that no single vacation can do it justice. To see just the Smithsonian Museum properly could take a person weeks. You must remember the Smithsonian is not a single building, but a massive assortment of buildings, each with its own theme and attractions. Once you have finished at the Smithsonian you can begin your tour of the national monuments, which if toured properly will take slightly more than an afternoon, perhaps by three or four days. Washington was reportedly designed to intimidate visiting heads of state. As you visit the nation’s capital you will agree, the designers achieved their goal.
Las Vegas, the world’s playground, offers some of the most amazing sites and entertainment venues in a smaller area than any other city in the world. Unlike the other cities on this list, Las Vegas is primarily for adults. Even if you don’t care to gamble there are still a great many attractions and sources of entertainment. The economy has had a negative effect on the city and many building projects have been halted, perhaps never to be completed. Never the less this city is still one of a kind with the shopping, shows, dining and atmosphere. If you shop early and carefully, there are also some good deals to be had in sin city.
Orlando, is one of the most common vacation destinations in the country. The attractions are actually in small cities outside Orlando, which when combined create the most visited recreational resort area in the world. Most people think of Walt Disney World but there is also the Universal Orlando Resort and Seaworld, which is a don’t miss on my list. You are also very close to some of the nicest beaches in the country, Kennedy Space Center, and some of the finest gardens you will ever see. There are also some fine dining locations and a vast number of other entertainment venues to choose from. This is an area which is impossible to see properly in a week, or even two weeks, there is just simply too much to see and do.
San Antonio, a city full of history, fun times, and great entertainment. This city has several ‘don’t miss’ attractions. Even if you are not a history buff, you should visit the Alamo and walk through a true piece of history. For most the Alamo will be smaller than they expect, but it still extremely interesting and well worth your time. San Antonio is also home to SeaWorld which is combined with a full water park and is a beautiful facility. SeaWorld is not only vastly entertaining it is also educational and a good time for the entire family. San Antonio is also home to an excellent zoo and the River Walk. The River Walk is located in downtown San Antonio but once in the River Walk area you will forget you are in the middle of a major metropolitan city. The shops, restaurants and clubs line the river with its tour boats and water taxies. The River Walk can be fun for the entire family, but after the sun goes down it becomes a more adult atmosphere. This is an extremely fun city with a great deal to see and do, and is very deserving of a top five spot.
