It seems everyone has their own blog these days. So how do you get your blog noticed? It starts with knowing how to automate the posting process. The more network sites you have linked up with your blog, automatically, the more exposure your blog will obtain. Here are a few ways to improve traffic to your awesome blog.
Join an automation site like Ping.fm for maximum blog exposure. Ping.fm is a simple and free service that makes updating your social networks a breeze. You can link your blog posts with dozens of social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Facebook pages, Google Buzz, MySpace, Ning, G Talk Status, AIM Status, Linked In, Tumblr, Plurk, YouAre, Bebo, Yammer, and Tagged (just to name a few).
Another useful automation site is Twitterfeed. Twitterfeed is a free website app that feeds your blog to Twitter and Facebook. You can also track your feeds with real-time statistics.
Identify your Readers
Join reader connection sites like Mybloglog to see who is reading your blog and connect with them. Mybloglog offers users a recent reader widget that allows you to view statistics on where your readers come from, what they view, and where they go.
Content and Search Engines
The content you post on your blog must have a consistent theme if you want to score high points with search engines like Google and Bing. For example, if you have started your blog writing about antique cars, stick with that theme. Resist the urge to branch out to far from your original blog genre. Ensure that your blog is consistent and updated frequently. Search engines favor fresh, well-written content with keywords located throughout the body of the content.
One way to get your blog some web traffic is by providing a trackback to a more popular blog site. The best way to do this is to be an active reader, and participate in blogs that are consistent with your blog. If you stumble upon some interesting, newsworthy content, take this information to create a blog post on your own site. Provide a link back to the original content, and provide good images.
You can download specific plug-ins onto your blog site to do just about anything. There are plug-ins to make automatic updates to content sites such as delicious, Squidoo, and Digg. There is an SEO plug-in, all-in-one SEO plug-in for WordPress, which automatically optimize your blog titles for search engines, and generate META tags automatically. And, there is a tracking plug-in, like Google Analytics for WordPress, which allow you to track your blog with lots of metadata. Find out if your clicks are coming from articles or comments, and choose where it tracks those links too.
Improving your blog exposure on the Internet starts with automating the posting process, identifying your readers, providing consistent and fresh content, utilizing trackbacks, and installing worthy plug-ins.
