Fibromyalgia is a ruthless disease, which delivers constant pain to millions of people on a daily basis. Sometimes pain medications help but more often than not, the pain continues unabated. Having a Fibro Pain Notebook could help you figure out how to help yourself.
When you have hit rock bottom with the fibromyalgia and nothing helps to control the pain that wreaks havoc on your body its time to try something else. What if that unexpected pain control came from the one thing you least expect? Having a fibro notebook can help you see what makes you feel better and what brings the pain to a crescendo.
If the worst pain comes after doing an activity you love, I am sure you would cut back on that particular activity. Therefore, it only makes sense to do more of the activity that helps to control the pain of Fibromyalgia.
How can you determine which activity is guilty of bringing more pain? Sometimes it’s easy but some times, it can be tricky because our activity levels vary depending on the day. Maybe walking is a pain control method that works most days when the fibromyalgia is tolerable for you. However, change the speed you walk, the temperature of the day, the atmosphere conditions or even the surface you walk and it becomes a painful exercise.
Include the date, meals, snacks, activities, weather of the day, along with stress levels. Those are the things you write in your fibro notebook so help you really understand the illness. You will also see how it affects you. Please take note of the italicized words as to what goes in your notebook.
When you do your fibro notebook entry, be sure to include all the conditions, which went with the activities. Such as, I walked for half an hour from my house down to the park. It had rained in the morning today but by afternoon when I walked, it was dry. It was a nice relaxing walk after a stressful morning at the office. After supper, I went to the gym until 7:30 and drove back home.
Breakfast at 8am was 2 pieces of white toast lightly buttered, and OJ. Snack at 10am was an apple. Lunch was a cheeseburger, small fries from McDonalds at 1:30. Supper at six included a chicken breast, baked potato, and corn.
Pain was tolerable, did not really affect my daily activities. I give it a four on the pain scale until 8 pm came when I tried to relax for the night when the pain went to an eight very quickly.
Your fibro notebook does not have to be fancy; a plain three subject one will do just fine. If you have, questions for your doctor write them in the back pages of the notebook, along with enough space to add your doctor’s response. Fight the Fibromyalgia as hard as it fights you. When you see your attack triggers, change them, and give yourself the upper hand.
