Only fantasy football worthy guys worth discussing right now as the playoffs start.
Peyton Hillis: 18 carries for 57 yards along with 7 catches for 22 yards. Its hard to figure out in what aspect of the game Hillis has been more impressive in: receiving or rushing. Rare is the game where Hillis doesnt score but either way the guy will be a late first round pick in fantasy football drafts now.
Knowshon Moreno: 23 carries for 161 yards along with 1 catch for 14 yards. This is the guy I anticipated when I spoke highly of him during the preseason. Injuries have ruined the bottom line of his season but he is getting going at the right time of the season. At this point you got to go with the hot hand.
Jamaal Charles: 21 carries for 116 yards along with 2 catches for 20 yards. Charles is a lock for 100 yards when he gets 15 carries and its great seeing how effortlessly he gets there as opposed to Thomas Jones who has to grind his way to that level. Charles can catch more passes but Dexter McCluster is stealing some but its good to see Todd Haley finally giving him more work. I am with the guy to the end no matter what.
Fred Jackson: 11 carries for 42 yards along with 1 catch for 6 yards. Jackson deserves more work as the Bills stubbornly keep throwing with new toy Ryan Fitzpatrick. Those in PPR have to keep starting him but ignore now in TD heavy setups.
Adrian Peterson: 16 carries for 107 yards with 3 TD’s along with 1 catch for 1 yard. Luckily I wound up winning my fantasy football PPR money league game which clinched the number 1 seed in my league and a first round bye. I had to earn it as I went up against Peterson and lived to tell about it. You knew he would explode against the horrid Bills rush defense but either way AP is about the best back to ride going into the playoffs.
Matt Forte: 13 carries for 64 yards with 1 TD along with 2 catches for 36 yards. Forte has scored the last three games which just so happens to be the three games since I traded him. The rushing yardage wont be there as this is a passing offense but Forte has been good down the stretch.
Maurice Jones-Drew: 31 carries for 186 yards along with 1 catch for 4 yards. Jones-Drew flat out has been the best fantasy football running back the last month and no one remembers the early duds he put up in September and October. What a great player.
Chris Johnson: 13 carries for 53 yards along with 2 catches for 14 yards. Johnson has put up two useless games in a row and the concern is that he might be worn down after so much work the last year and a half. I dont buy it as the QB situation is the real culprit here. Johnson will be just fine if only Kerry Collin can soften things up which I think he will. Dont jump ship and even think of benching the guy.
Brandon Jacobs: 8 carries for 103 yards with 2 TD’s. Jacobs owners had to be screaming for more after that awesome first half but the Giants force fed Ahmad Bradshaw in order to get him 1,000 rushing yards. Still those in TD heavy leagues are getting a nice late boost and even though Bradshaw scored twice, Jacobs figures to get more looks the rest of the way.
Ahmad Bradshaw: 25 carries for 97 yards with 2 TD’s along with 1 catch for 8 yards. Speaking of Bradshaw, there obviously is no need for worry as fas as being demoted. He will get his work and continue being a PPR guy.
Cedric Benson: 19 carries for 49 yards with 2 TD’s along with 2 catches for 14 yards. Benson is only for TD heavy fantasy football leagues and he did his job here. Still the Bengals are now a firm passing offense and thus he loses much of his appeal.
Darren McFadden: 19 carries for 97 yards with 1 TD and 1 fumble along with 3 catches for 30 yards. Good to see McFadden do well here after two straight poor games. He is very PPR friendly when he is hot but the ups and downs this season hint that he could either win your team the title or get your knocked out in the first round.
LeGarrette Blount: 22 carries for 103 yards with 1 TD. Blount has proven himself to be a TD heavy league guy as pass catching is not showing itself yet. He had been very good since getting the starting job but I am really worry about consistency here.
Michael Turner: 24 carries for 88 yards with 1 TD. Turner did his job as usual. This guy is so consistent that he is boring to talk about.
Steven Jackson: 28 carries for 102 yards with 1 TD along with 1 catch for 13 yards. Jackson is looking like a guy on the cliff of his career and I already talked about how he no longer plays on third downs which destroy his pass catching. The TD’s are always light so you can argue that Jackson is not worth playing in the fantasy football playoffs.
Tashard Choice: 19 carries for 100 yards with 1 TD.
Felix Jones: 22 carries for 83 yards along with 3 catches for 8 yards: Both guys did the job here and Choice looked great running in particular. You wont get catches from Choice and Jones wont score TD’s so know your league setups before you get invested here.
Ray Rice: 9 carries for 32 yards along with 2 catche for 18 yards. Rice has not put up top 4 fantasy football running back numbers. The conclusion can be drawn now. Still he is worth using in the playoffs absolutely but you have the right to be disappointed if you are an owner.
Rashard Mendenhall: 19 carries for 45 yards along with 3 catches for 18 yards. Poor game for Mendenhall but he deserves as mulligan due to hsi great play all season. Ride the guy all the way and dont worry here.
