EURO 2012: Tickets Application Deadline is March 31, 2011

by tree pony

UEFA has opened the ticket portal on its website. It means that from March 1 to March 31 fans may apply for Euro 2012 tickets on-line. Since it is anticipated that demand for tickets would be greater than the number of tickets available, the lottery will take place in early April 2011. Before the end of the same month all applicants will be notified through e-mails regarding the status of requested tickets. In order to avoid situations with tickets lost and counterfeit UEFA has decided to print and send tickets to owners only several weeks in advance, in spring 2012.

There are three major types of tickets that will be available: individual match tickets, Follow My Team tickets, and Venue Series tickets. Individual tickets are split into three categories depending on seat location, and priced accordingly. The first category is for seats on the main and opposite stands of a stadium. The second category is for seats on corners and behind the goals on the upper tier. The third category seats are located behind the goals, but on the lower tier.

The number of tickets for a match is limited to four per application. It means the lucky applicant can invite only three guests. Applicants cannot request specific seats, only the seats category. It is also impossible to apply for tickets for two matches that take place on the same day. Those rules with some exceptions apply as well for Follow My Team tickets and Venue Series tickets.

For example Follow My Team tickets will be offered only in the second category (upper tier behind the goals and corners of a stadium). Another limitation is that only citizens or residents of the participating country may apply for tickets for matches with the national team of their country.

Venue Series tickets are for matches in one stadium. This group of tickets was chosen with host city residents in mind. There are two groups of tickets: Venue Series tickets and Venue Series Knockout tickets. Venue Series tickets are for all three group matches at the same stadium. Venue Series Knockout tickets are for two matches in Warsaw (Poland), Kiev and Donetsk (Ukraine).

UEFA will accept payments for tickets by credit card in euro. Only exception will be made for Polish and Ukrainian citizens, who can pay in their country currency and use wire transfer services of local banks. Payments in full are expected for individual matches and Venue Series tickets in April, 2011, and for Follow My Team tickets in December 2011.

That is why, if you are planning to visit some matches of Euro 2012, it is a time to register on the UEFA ticket portal, fill out an application, and check your credit card balance. Good luck!
