The Eagles vs Cowboys score last night was a change of pace. Since the Eagles vs Cowboys score had Philadelphia on top 30-27, it was far different from their last two visits to Dallas. They ended the Donovan McNabb era after two horrific, blowout losses in Cowboys Stadium within six days. For their return to Dallas, Philadelphia needed Michael Vick and the offense to come up much bigger. Ultimately, the score finally reflected how the Eagles’ offense has changed for the better since then.
Things started out perfectly, with Vick getting an opening touchdown run. But nowadays, the Eagles need all the points they can get, as their usually powerful defense has hit hard times. As such, the Cowboys got an opening drive of their own to tie things up.
But the game changed on some late first half and early second half mistakes, just like Philadelphia’s last road game in Chicago. An interception led to a late Dallas field goal, to make it 14-10 Philadelphia at the break. In the third quarter, another interception led to Dallas going ahead 20-14 on a Felix Jones touchdown.
LeSean McCoy then started to wake up in the second half, as he racked up some big runs to wake the offense up. Yet they had to settle for two field goals to tie it up, with missed opportunities and mistakes making things harder than they had to be again.
However, the score was decided for good on a fairly common play. The big-play combination of Vick and DeSean Jackson paid off again, with Jackson going 91 yards for the winning touchdown, despite getting injured earlier.
Jackson’s production, and the amount of times he was getting the ball, was a brief distraction a few weeks ago. He only caught four passes last night, yet he got 210 yards and a touchdown out of it. After that, the running game actually settled things, as McCoy rushed for 149 yards – most of them in the second half.
Dallas didn’t give up, as they closed it to 30-27 with minutes left. However, the Eagles vs Cowboys score would not move again, as big runs from McCoy helped Philadelphia run out the clock.
The day was fairly productive for Philadelphia, as they moved into a tie for second in the NFC with the Bears and took back the lead in the NFC East for now. If the Giants lose to the Vikings, after all the hassles they have been through, the Eagles could then actually clinch the division by beating the Giants again next week.
The last two Eagles vs Cowboys games had horrific scores for the visitors. But this visit to Arlington went a lot better – and they hope to make one more Feb. 6, 2011.
