I never knew that the brand “Sinful Colors” was being sold at select Target stores.
I had heard of this brand of nail polish for some time now and even looked at their website, here, but never saw them in any local retailers.
While browsing Target the other day, I spotted about 15 colors from this brand on the same display as Essie, Nicole by OPI, and Sally Hansen polishes.
There was no price sticker in this location, so I scanned a random polish at one of their “price checkers” and low and behold it was only $1.99!
I decided to pick up 2 colors, one of which was a bright purple, #80 “Dream On”.
I had never seen a shade of medium purple this bright before, so this one caught my eye from the beginning. After purchasing, I visited the Sinful Colors website, but the color indicated on the site was so much lighter than the shade actually looks, so keep that in mind.
The bottle is standard size and contains .5 fl oz of product.
The top unscrews rather easily and the brush is not flat, which is what I was hoping for, but rather the traditional shape for nail enamel.
I thought that this went on rather smoothly. I did not really have a problem with application. I did notice that it dries rather quickly and the fragrance of the polish does not linger like some other brands do.
After painting a few nails, I did notice that the polish was drying a matte color.
I was kind of surprised that it did not have a shine on it at all. The color in neither the bottle, nor anything marked on the bottle, states that this is a matte finish. Most colors, unless otherwise noted, always has a sheen.
By the time I was done with both hands, the first hand was completely dry. This is a good thing and is something I am not used to, even with fast drying polishes.
I applied 2 more coats, hoping to have some sort of shine, and while it wasn’t completely matte, this is the least shiny polish I own.
The color of purple when dried was also different than the bottle. While the purple was still vibrant on my nails, it dried somewhat darker than what appears in the bottle. I am assuming that the matte formula is the cause of this.
Matte polish colors were big last year, so it wasn’t a huge deal to me, but some might prefer the shine.
Like most polishes, I prefer to not use a base coat or topcoat. I always want a quick manicure and I have not found either a topcoat or base to ever work well for me anyways.
I painted my nails on Sunday night and by Monday night the polish was already chipping off.
I had not even washed the dishes or typed a lot those days, so this was with light wear.
Today is Wednesday and every nail looks horrible. I really liked this color, even the matte finish was alright, but the lasting power was horrible. I think I could use a glitter topcoat to prolong it a day or 2, but this was definitely a 1 day polish on my nails.
My own bottle of Sinful Colors nail polish in shade 80, Dream On.
