In the latest sign that he is serious about running for President in 2012, Donald Trump today specifically referenced the website “ShouldTrumpRun.com” in a tweet.
For weeks it has been rumored that Donald Trump is serious about running for President in 2012. [Source: Winder, John G. To some, though, this story has been too conveniently timed, appearing as it does shortly before the season premier of Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice tv show.
A tweet by Donald Trump today, however, suggests that he really is contemplating a run for the Presidency: “The people at shouldtrumprun.com have got it right! How are our factories supposed to compete with China and other countries…” [Source: Donald Trump twitter account at: http://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump].
ShouldTrumpRun.com is a website for people who want to urge Donald Trump to run for President in 2012. Trump’s tweet reveals that he personally is reading that website. It is unclear whether he is involved with it beyond simply reading, though. Even if he is merely reading it, there is a chance that the website could persuade him to launch a Presidential campaign.
The substance of Donald Trump’s tweet relates to China’s currency manipulation (which depresses the prices of goods exported from China and thereby increases the U.S. trade deficit). In recent weeks, Trump has been publicly harping on the China issue, especially in light of Obama’s perceived pandering to the Chinese, which seems to really make Donald’s blood boil. Trump was not impressed by the lavish entertainment Obama provided for visiting President Hu of China last week. [Source: Gavin, Patrick. “Donald Trump knocks state dinner,” Politico.com, 1/20/11. We are still a long way away from a formal announcement of a Presidential campaign from Trump. Today’s tweet, however, is one more indication that in 2012 your Presidential ballot might have a little box marked “Donald Trump.”
