There are many type of distractions in college that can trouble students. There are drugs, sex, parties, alcohol, and many more. But those are the main distractions that are ruining the students today.
- Drugs have been used and sold in schools for years, mostly from high school to college. Most of the students who used drugs in high school continued to use drugs in college, and influenced other college students to use them as well. In most colleges, students use illegal drugs such as weed, cocaine and meth. Some students use prescription drugs and use them as an illegal substance. When students tend to feel home sick or stressed out from classes, they are more vulnerable to take drugs. Some students never felt like they belonged in high school. So when they reach to college, they’ll follow the crowd, thinking that they are making the right friends.
- Sex is one of the biggest distractions in college worldwide. Many college students abuse sex, and make mistakes that can ruin them for the rest of their life. Sex is supposed to be pleasurable, and in my opinion, should only be active in marriage. In the world today, it is very rare for a student to go to college as a virgin. And the rate of STD’s, HIV, and AID’s continuously rise. Black women have the highest rate of HIV and AIDs and that can affect many men in black colleges. Sex is one of the main talked about topics and activities in college today. Most likely when a virgin goes to college, he or she will not graduate as a virgin. Boys go to college with the pressure of feeling like a man, trying to sleep with as many girls as they can. Girls go to college feeling like they don’t want to be the innocent girl as they were in high school.
alcohol is the leading cause of death in college each year. It’s also the leading cause of college drops outs. College students leave home, excited that they are finally out of their parents care and think they can do whatever they want. Students who party all night and every night tend to over sleep and miss class. If they wake up with a hangover, it’ll be harder to concentrate in class. Some students have left a party drunk driving and killed someone and possibly themselves. Drinking is not an activity to take advantage of. Some college girls have left a party drunk and woke up in a room they did not recognize. There is also much underage drinking in college which heightens the risk of immature and irresponsible acts.
I’m not trying to make students feel like they can’t have fun in college but they should act responsible. No need to make one night of fun be your last.
