New “Dark Knight Rises” casting rumors are certain to have fans excited. Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley are linked to “Batman 3,” possibly simply because their names sound good in the connection, but maybe because there are also some truths behind the latest rumors.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Christopher Nolan is looking for a lead actress to play an important role in “The Dark Night Rises” quite soon. Apparently he also has a short list of names to play that key role, one which Nolan has been pretty quiet about to anyone asking questions. Whether or not their report has any truth to it could be a stretch, but they are claiming to have some very good sources who know what is going on.
The actresses on Nolan’s alleged list are some of the best out there right now. Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara, and Charlotte Riley are all of the actresses that it appears he is interested in trying out for the role of Talia. For those who know the story of Batman well, Talia is the daughter of villain Ra’s Al Ghul. Al Ghul was the main bad guy in “Batman Begins,” who was depicted as being killed off in one of the final scenes. Maybe his daughter is coming back for a bit of revenge.
There is going to be immense debate about these five actresses on the Internet, and which one fans feel can best portray the vixen Talia is bound to be. Kate Mara can be seen in “127 Hours” (briefly) right now and is also going to be in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” in the title role. Charlotte Riley was just seen in “The Prince of Persia,” so she could definitely fit into a role like this one, but maybe she isn’t wel- known enough yet to command the screen in a new Batman movie.
The most interesting actress on the list has to be Knightley, who we have seen fight quite a bit in the first three “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. She also held her own very well in “Domino,” so it isn’t beyond her reach to do well in an action movie. Nolan has been known to bring the best out of any actress, though, so he might not even need to go for the star power with that particular role. Will they really need big names to get people into theaters to see another Batman movie anyway?
“The Dark Knight Rises” is a long ways from making it into theaters, no matter who is cast in the roles of the villains. There has been very little information confirmed about the third chapter; the only real knowledge we have so far is that Nolan is directing, Christian Bale is Batman again, and Tom Hardy has been cast in a small role. Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine are all expected back as well. Where will the story go? The assumption is that it will be the final chapter that Nolan is involved with, so he will want to close it out well.
July 20, 2012, is the release date of the third new Batman film, and it is easily going to be one of the biggest films of the summer.
