Remember last February 2010 Daniel Bryan was featured as Miz’s rookie on Season One of NXT? There was a considerable amount of interest in Daniel Bryan because he was being treated terribly by Miz. Well now we are moving quickly along in 2011 and Daniel Bryan’s buzz in the WWE has fizzled. When is the last time you heard his name being consistently being brought up in discussions or articles online? The solution is that Daniel Bryan should be transferred to a heel?
Do you remember WWE’s first attempt at making Daniel Bryan into a heel. Well remember the June 7, 2010 Episode of Raw? It was a Viewer’s Choice Edition when for that night only, fans had somewhat of a option of which wrestlers would face each others in matches that night. That episode of Raw was a three hour program that night. It was also a huge night, because that the very first “Nexus” was formed that night. All the NXT rookies charged the ring and wreaked havoc on anything and everything. CM Punk and John Cena were decimated by eight NXT rookies. The commentators, the ring technicians, and Justin Roberts (Ring Announcer) were attacked. John Cena left the arena on a stretcher that night.
The reason why I brought up the formation of Nexus is because WWE officials attempted to transform Daniel Bryan into a heel that night. Many people forget that he was originally slated to be apart of the Original Nexus alliance. Daniel Bryan was one of those eight rookies on June 7, 2010. If you remember that night, Daniel Bryan approached ring announcer Justin Roberts and began strangling him with his own tie. The following week on Raw, Daniel Bryan was fired and WWE wrote him out of the storyline. Nexus (Wade Barrett) claimed in a promo that they kicked him out the group for showing remorse for his actions on June 7, 2010.
Since that incident, Bryan was brought back by the WWE in August 2010, and he has been a babyface character every since. His return to the WWE was well received by many in the WWE Universe. Bryan defeated his version of “Goliath” by defeating The Miz for the United States Championship. Two weeks after whining the US title; he successfully retained it against John Morrison and Ted D. at the 2010 Hell In a Cell PPV. My whole point is for a number of months; Daniel Bryan has wowed the WWE Universe with his great in-ring skills in various matches. The storyline involving him secretly dating Gail Kim is somewhat of a hit and miss by WWE officials who created this storyline. It was great to see it occur because Michael Cole was jealous (storyline) of Daniel and now had to witness Daniel Bryan as a ladies man. The bad part about the storyline is WWE has gotten away from his wrestling and rivalries with his peers.
However, Sheamus has emerged as someone who desires to win the title from Daniel, and hopefully this happens. The reason why I hope it occurs is Daniel can begin becoming a heel in the WWE. His reign as US Champion has gotten really boring in recent weeks, and the crowds at Raw events must agree. His entrances to the ring no longer have the pop when he first returned to the WWE. Bryan is a funny guy at times, but he would better help the WWE if he were a heel. Daniel is member of the Raw roster, which has a huge amount of faces including John Cena. It wouldn’t hurt if he were to become a heel on that program.
Daniel Bryan has more than ten years of experience as a professional wrestler before every stepping in a WWE ring. Daniel Bryan won the Ring Of Honor World Championship in Sept 2005, and began to display heel characteristics immediately. He began to threaten fans at events, and took plenty of shortcuts in matches. See people that was in 2005, five years before he was a contracted wrestler with WWE. This guy knows how to make transitions as a wrestler. I find it very amusing and “Attitude Era like” that Daniel Bryan choked a ring announcer with his own tie. Don’t let the smile fool you, Daniel Bryan could be a great heel in the WWE. For once, I would like to hear Michael Cole praise Daniel Bryan on commentary. We all know that Cole wil only praise you if your a heel in the WWE.
