I was on vacation visiting my aunt he first time I ever saw Dancing with the Stars. Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff performed a number that appeared more like sex, than a dance. I was hooked. I have been glued to my television set every season since then. Therefore, I was excited to learn who the new cast of stars would be, when they were announced during The Bachelor. That is, until they were announced. I’m still asking, “Who?”
Sure, I’ve seen some of them before. Who hasn’t heard of Kirstie Alley and her weight loss issues? There’s Ralph Macchio from Karate Kid. After the release of the latest Karate Kid movie, even kids know him as Daniel LaRusso. Most of us have heard of Sugar Ray Leonard, even if we don’t watch boxing. Petra Nemcova-we all know her, especially the guys. I’m sure men will tune in just to get a glance at her gorgeous body. Then there’s the reality star who we wish we didn’t recognize-Kendra Wilkinson. Although I’ve never seen anything she has appeared on, I know who she is since I’ve been on the home page of Yahoo.
Then there are the standard residents, who some people know and others don’t. There’s often a Disney star. This season, Chelsea Kane was chosen for the part. Hines Ward was the selected football player.
But who are the others? There’s Mike Catherwood. It states on www.abc.com that he co-hosts a radio show, called “Loveline Radio.” I’ve never heard of it or him. Although I have to say I won’t mind watching him on the show if he can dance half as good as he looks.
Next is Chris Jericho. It states that he is a triple threat as a successful wrestler, writer, and musician. It seems like that’s triple the reason I would know who he is. That’s not the case. Then again, he’s a wrestler. Wrestling? Enough said.
There is often a singer, and I guess Romeo meets that role this season. On his profile, it says he’s a multi-platinum musician. It must be in a category I don’t listen to. Although, I think he might be the singer on my daughter’s Hilary Duff Christmas cd. The song starts out, “Yo Hilary, it’s Romeo.” I’m guessing it is the same person. Cute song. Cute guy, even if I didn’t recognize him right away.
Finally, there’s Wendy Williams. Her bio states that she has her own talk show. Where is our legendary entertainer this season? What happened to the standard soap opera hunk? Where’s our gold medalist? Half the fun of watching the show is watching the stars step out of their element and onto the dance floor. I enjoy watching them learn something new. This season, if I watch it, I will be watching strangers learn how to dance. What’s interesting about that? It’s supposed to be Dancing with the Stars. This season, it’s Dancing with Who?
