Dancing With the Stars 2011 has a lot of question marks. Since the Dancing With the Stars 2011 cast doesn’t have a Bristol Palin involved, Season 12 may not have the same kind of insane buzz. But for many fans, this could come as a relief, as the show will now be away from the political spotlight. However, Season 12 doesn’t seem to have as many train wrecks as usual, leaving another big hole in the cast. But a few are likely to emerge, as the Dancing With the Stars 2011 premiere will get the mirror ball rolling tonight.
Months ago, both the entertainment and the political world saw Jennifer Grey finally end Bristol Palin’s run. Yet Season 12 is going back to basics, as they are limiting themselves to movie, music and sports icons this time around.
The Dancing With the Stars 2011 cast includes the likes of Kristie Alley, Ralph Macchio, Kendra Wilkinson, Wendy Williams, Sugar Ray Leonard and Hines Ward. In addition, Chelsea Kane, Chris Jericho, Romeo, Petra Nemcova and “Psycho Mike” Catherwood round out the field.
Although there are some unlikely contestants, Season 12 doesn’t have as many eyebrow-raising choices as usual. With no Palin, Tom DeLay, Cloris Leachman or The Situation in the cast, it may be harder to find a breakout train wreck in this bunch – at least as first.
Yet the Dancing With the Stars 2011 cast also doesn’t have a big favorite going into opening night. Technically, the last several years have been very predictable, as Grey, Nicole Scherzinger, and Donny Osmond have coasted to victories. If not for Palin, last year would have been the most predictable competition yet, since Grey was ahead from night one.
Season 12 may find its big favorites by the end of the week, nonetheless, as the group makes its big debut. After that, the show will spend weeks trying to knock the early favorites off, although one or two are likely to go wire to wire.
Still, the Dancing With the Stars 2011 cast could be in a no win situation, given the bar that was set last year. But Season 12 probably doesn’t need a Palin to lift it up, as the show remains one of the biggest hits on reality TV. In fact, now that American Idol is no longer on Tuesdays, the results shows can stand alone on that night.
But first, the Season 12 premiere has the 11 contestants making their first impressions on the dance floor. The first steps of Dancing With the Stars 2011 will be taken tonight, from 8 to 10 pm est on ABC.
