I ate at Culver’s for the first time today. I have always drove by and been intrigued by the sign saying “Butter Burgers”. Butter burgers just sound sinfully delicious. I originally passed by this restaurant when I lived in Columbus Ohio, but being a poor college student never got to try it. Then, I moved to Montana, where there were no Culver’s in my area. Now that I’m back in Ohio, I knew I couldn’t wait any longer and persuaded my fiance to take me.
Once there our minds were blown with the sheer volume of menu items. To try, we selected a Cheddar Butter Burger, Cheese Curds, Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich, and a pint of their Rocky Road frozen Custards. Our verdict, pretty good.
Cheddar Butter Burger-Pretty good, I didn’t taste much of the butter like I expected to, but it did give the burger a nice crisp taste and made a “crust” on the surface of the burger. The cheddar was a mild cheddar that worked nicely with the burger. I wasn’t a big fan of the bun, it was so thick in relation to the burger that it really masked a lot of the flavor and brought it down a bit.
Cheese Curds- I love cheese curds. These were delectable breaded morsels fried to a golden brown. When bitten into they were melty cheesy goodness. They came with marinara dipping sauce but were so good I never had a chance to dip them before they were consumed.
Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich-This was my fiance’s choice. He said it was smaller than expected and a bit dry. He was actually a bit disappointed as he was expecting a nice juicy sandwich. It came with cheese and onions.
Rocky Road Frozen Custard-We got a whole pint and it was absolutely delicious. It was creamy and easy to eat and on the top of the pint they had sprinkled chocolate shavings and toasted pecans. It was wonderful.
I was a bit hesitant to post this review before trying more of their product, but figured a first timers view would give a different perspective. As I try more things, I plan on adding on to this review.

Now a word on the nutritional content of these foods. This place is not for dieters. They haven’t eliminated trans fats and the calorie content is extremely high on these meals. The burger, cheese curds, and couple bites of ice cream I had came to a whopping 1,398 calories according to the site’s own nutrition calculator. The rest of the menu items seem to be in the same range.
Price wise it’s on the high end of fair. Burgers will set you back a couple bucks but they also have value baskets and Snakpak meals offering some of their favorites like the butterburgers.
The store itself was clean and had plenty of seating room. They also have drive thru’s for those who don’t want to go in and order at the counter. The staff was pleasant and helpful and our food was ready in a flash. Overall I was pleased with the experience and would return.
